Description
About the role
Jan De Nul stands for sustainable, high-quality, and innovative construction projects, from A to Z. This includes our own in-house engineering department. For our Design & Engineering department, we are looking for engineers to develop designs and calculations for our diverse projects. Would you like to work on challenging infrastructure projects? As a Road Design Engineer, you will translate complex designs into smart, actionable 3D models that elevate our projects to the next level. You will play a crucial role in preparing and optimizing roadworks, from design through to execution.
What you’ll do
You design, analyze and refine 3D road designs that directly contribute to efficient execution and accurate cost estimation of our projects. Thanks to your models, on-site teams can execute exactly what was designed, while risks and optimization opportunities are identified in a timely manner.
- You optimize 3D road designs in line with guidelines and project requirements, including temporary phasing.
- You build and manage detailed 3D models within a BIM environment and ensure smooth coordination with other disciplines.
- You prepare design plans (layout plans, longitudinal and cross sections) and verify them based on accurate input data.
- You process topographical data, terrain measurements and point clouds into usable designs.
- You deliver data for machine control, ensuring flawless execution on site.
- You calculate quantities (earthworks, volumes, surfaces) to support tenders and execution.
- You follow up on administrative tasks (daily reports, plan overviews, etc.) and proactively flag issues to the project team.
What do you need?
- Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering (Construction)
- You work independently on projects using relevant design software
- Relevant experience is a plus, but motivated graduates are certainly welcome.
- You work in a structured and accurate manner.
- You are fluent in Dutch with a basic knowledge of French.
- Position based in Aalst, with short periods on site.
