The Logistics and Warehouse Manager leads day-to-day warehouse and logistics operations at Evonik's Hopewell manufacturing site. This role is responsible for keeping materials and finished products moving safely and efficiently while supporting production needs and customer commitments.

The position leads the onsite warehouse and logistics team and works closely with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Customer Service, EHSS, business teams, transportation providers, and other partners. Beyond managing daily operations, this person will help improve warehouse processes, strengthen team performance, and identify new ways to use technology and digital tools to make operations safer, more efficient, and more transparent. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working with people, solving operational challenges, and finding better ways to get work done.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead daily warehouse and logistics operations at the Hopewell manufacturing site, including receiving, storage, finished goods shipments, raw material movements, domestic transportation, imports, exports, and air freight activities.
• Lead, coach, develop, and organize the work of Warehouse Operators and Logistics Coordinators, creating a safe, accountable, and collaborative team environment.
• Coordinate closely with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Customer Service, EHSS, and other internal teams to support plant operations and customer requirements.
• Maintain safe and compliant warehouse and transportation operations in accordance with applicable regulations, Evonik EHSQ requirements, and hazardous materials handling standards.
• Manage warehouse priorities and respond to operational challenges such as capacity constraints, transportation issues, changing production requirements, and customer needs.
• Support inventory accuracy and warehouse processes through SAP and other warehouse and transportation management tools.
• Identify and implement process improvements, digital tools, dashboards, and other solutions that improve visibility, efficiency, safety, and overall warehouse performance.
• Support incident investigations, audits, freight claims, customer complaints, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities as needed.
• Work with freight carriers, vendors, contractors, and other external partners to coordinate transportation and resolve service or operational issues.
• Establish and monitor warehouse and logistics performance measures while identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational improvement.
• Contribute to broader site initiatives and work across functions to improve the overall performance and culture of the Hopewell facility.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Relevant experience in warehouse, logistics, distribution, supply chain, or a related operational environment. Approximately 5 or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Previous people leadership or supervisory experience required. Approximately 3 or more years of leadership experience is preferred.
• Experience leading employees in a warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, or similar hands-on operating environment.
• Working knowledge of warehouse safety, transportation, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience with SAP or a similar ERP, warehouse management, or transportation management system preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning and using digital tools.
• DOT and IATA hazardous materials / dangerous goods knowledge and certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across functions and with external partners.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve employee conflicts, coach and develop team members, and organize work effectively.
• A proactive, safety-focused, and improvement-oriented mindset with an interest in using new ideas and technology to strengthen operations.

Site & Team Environment

This position is based at Evonik's Hopewell, Virginia manufacturing site and is expected to have a strong onsite presence. The expectation is five days per week onsite, Monday through Friday, during normal daytime business hours.

 

The Hopewell site offers a manufacturing environment where teamwork, communication, and strong relationships across functions are important. The Logistics and Warehouse Manager will lead approximately 10 employees, including Warehouse Operators and Logistics Coordinators, and will interact with teams throughout the site as well as Evonik's broader Supply Chain organization and external transportation partners.

 

Summary Compensation & Benefits:​

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. (Specific rate to be determined, but not limited to, geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).​

 

Pay Range: $83,900 - $139,800
