Description
Oversees and conducts a Youth Basketball Program on site at a designated gym. Plans instruction and decides on the drills to be used. The employee provides leadership and supervision for other staff members. Employee is actively involved in instructing and coaching. Communicates with and handles questions from participants and parents as needed. May coach an informal game played in a nearby town. Performs related duties as needed.
Season: Early December – Late February
Approx. Hours Per Week: 5-7, which may depend on program and location.
Considerable Basketball coaching and instructional experience involving children is required, including some experience organizing a program. Good communication skills.
Current certification in both First Aid and CPR is required; if applicant does not have valid certification, they must be willing to attend training offered by the Parks and Recreation Department or complete course on their own.
All employees will be subject to a background check. Employees may be required to attend a staff meeting and coaching workshop; the coaching workshop may be completed online.
