Overview
Responsible for leading machine maintenance operations that support manufacturing equipment reliability, availability, and production performance. Leads a team of skilled mechanical and electrical technicians and ensures effective execution of preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance activities. Drives safety, equipment reliability, workforce capability, and continuous improvement through technical leadership, maintenance discipline, and cross-functional partnership.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead machine maintenance operations and the execution of preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance to support safety, equipment reliability, and production requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop skilled mechanical and electrical technicians; set clear expectations and drive accountability, technical capability, and employee development.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities with Planning and Operations to balance planned work, emergency repairs, production needs, backlog, and available resources.
- Support the Predictive & Reliable Maintenance (PRM) strategy by ensuring effective execution of maintenance procedures and reliability practices established with Equipment Engineering.
- Monitor and drive maintenance performance through KPIs, including PM compliance, downtime, emergency work, backlog, labor utilization, schedule adherence, MTTR, and MTBF; implement corrective actions to address performance gaps.
- Lead complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and failure elimination efforts; ensure corrective actions are implemented, validated, documented, and sustained.
- Partner with Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and other stakeholders to improve equipment reliability and support equipment installations, capital projects, process changes, and manufacturing initiatives.
- Manage workforce administration and capability, including staffing, scheduling, timekeeping, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with company safety requirements and applicable ISO, OSHA, DEQ, and regulatory standards; oversee contractors and service providers to ensure safe, compliant execution of work.
- Drive continuous improvement in maintenance processes, equipment reliability, work execution, technology utilization, and cost effectiveness while maintaining effective communication with internal customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance principles within a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing equipment and troubleshooting practices.
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, equipment reliability, and structured root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of Predictive & Reliable Maintenance (PRM), condition monitoring technologies, and reliability improvement practices.
- Proficiency with CMMS and maintenance performance measures, including MTTR, MTBF, PM compliance, backlog, schedule adherence, and equipment effectiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop skilled technical teams while driving accountability and performance.
- Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to balance immediate production demands with long-term reliability objectives.
- Effective communication and cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence Maintenance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations.
- Working knowledge of ISO, OSHA, DEQ, and applicable manufacturing safety requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and continuous improvement within a complex technical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting CNC machining, fabrication, automated assembly, finishing, or similar manufacturing equipment.
- Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) license or other relevant technical licensure.
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification.
- Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or related continuous improvement certification or experience.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience supervising or leading skilled technical employees.
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex automated manufacturing equipment and equipment reliability programs.
- Associate degree in maintenance, manufacturing, engineering technology, business, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
