The responsibility of the Buyer is to develop merchandise assortments and strategies to drive profitable sales and productivity across their departments, while ensuring product value, quality and styling. The buyer holds a leadership role within the Merchandising team and is responsible for all aspects of assortment planning, selection, maintenance, vendor negotiations and promotion, for designated product categories.

Key Responsibilities

·       Partner with Merchandising Director to set strategic vision for each department under their responsibility.

·       Develop, select, test, price and acquire quality merchandise consistent with consumer demand and strategic goals.

·       Maintain up-to-date knowledge of jewelry market trends and competitive strategies that will allow for the ability to adjust quickly to changing market trends and conditions.

·       Develop new product concepts/brands for test markets with potential expansion

·       Coordinate efforts with marketing, visual display and advertising departments

·       Identify & source key promotional items several times a year and present recommendations to leaders

·       Analyze and react to business on a weekly basis and be prepared to report to leadership in Monday sales meetings.

·       Develop a strong partnership with MP&I team to co-manage open-to-buy and e-commerce assortments

·       Manage lifecycle from inception through clearance/end of life

·       Work closely with vendor base on cost negotiations and returns of discontinued products

·       Present business reviews to merchandising leaders

·       Proof advertising materials for accuracy

·       Work with Visual Merchandising team on POG updates twice a year

·       Develop strong cross-functional partnerships with store operations, MP&I, Central Sourcing team and DC teams

·       Oversee training and career development for direct reports/team

Minimum Requirements

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field preferred

·       3+ years prior buying experience

·       Ability to travel nationally and internationally as needed

·       Computer skills with Microsoft Office

·       Strong communication, negotiation, organizational and math skills

·       Ability to work in a metal-free environment when necessary

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·       Ability to work independently and as a team

·       Ability to demonstrate leadership skills
