Facilities and Fire System Project Manager

Your Opportunity

Fire systems and facilities across our treatment plants, pump stations, depots and offices need to be compliant, well-maintained and audit-ready, every day, without exception. As our Facilities & Fire System Project Manager, you will own that assurance: overseeing the Delivery Partner who maintains, inspects and tests these assets, and making sure the work holds up against Australian Standards, the Building Fire Safety Regulation and our own governance standards.

Your success in this role will be maintenance programs that run to schedule, defects that get closed out before they become risks, and a level of oversight that gives leadership genuine confidence in our compliance position.

You’ll sit within Maintenance Services, part of the Operations & Maintenance group, working alongside Operations, Networks, Facilities, Asset Management, Health and Safety and Capital Delivery. Reporting to the Maintenance Program Leader, you’ll be a key point of escalation for fire system performance and facilities maintenance, contributing directly to the safe and reliable operation of the infrastructure our communities depend on.  

What You’ll Deliver

• Oversee delivery of fire system maintenance, inspection and testing by our Delivery Partner, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and Queensland fire safety legislation
• Monitor maintenance schedules, test results and defect rectification, acting as the point of escalation for issue resolution
• Support planning and coordination of broader facilities maintenance across electrical, HVAC, building, plumbing and access systems
• Track program performance, budget and expenditure, reporting on trends, risks and improvement opportunities to stakeholders
• Apply assurance and audit frameworks to maintenance activity, identifying non-conformances and driving corrective action with the Delivery Partner.
• A shared team vehicle will be available for use when required as needed.

About You

• Degree in project management or equivalent demonstrated experience delivering projects or programs on time and to budget
• Minimum 5 years’ project management experience, with demonstrated oversight of fire systems and/or facilities maintenance in complex operational environments
• Working knowledge of AS 1851, other applicable Australian Standards and Queensland fire safety and building legislation
• Experience managing contracted service providers, including performance monitoring and issue resolution
• Exposure to assurance, audit or compliance frameworks (ISO 9001, ISO 55001 or similar)
• Comfortable working with and maintaining strong relationships across a broad stakeholder group, including Operations, Asset Management, Health and Safety and Capital Delivery.
