Job Title: Material Handler III
Location: 5100 Tice Street (Fort Myers, FL)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Hourly
Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a dependable and experienced Material Handler III to support warehouse, transportation, salvage, and new goods operations. This lead-level role is responsible for supervising team members, coordinating material movement, and ensuring efficient loading, unloading, and distribution of goods throughout the organization. The ideal candidate brings warehouse leadership experience, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to safety while supporting Goodwill's mission of creating opportunities and strengthening the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise assigned employees involved in the movement of donated goods, salvage commodities, equipment, fixtures, and other materials.
- Coordinate loading and unloading activities to ensure materials are handled safely and efficiently.
- Ensure store deliveries and transportation schedules are completed according to operational needs and company policies.
- Verify trucks are loaded properly and efficiently to support delivery and distribution requirements.
- Assist in salvage, new goods, and warehouse operations as needed.
- Cross-train in multiple operational areas to provide coverage and support throughout the facility.
- Train employees on departmental procedures, safety standards, and operational expectations.
- Assign daily duties and monitor performance of Material Handler I and Material Handler II team members.
- Provide excellent customer service to stores, administrative departments, vendors, and donors.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One (1) to two (2) years of warehouse operations experience.
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience loading 53‑foot trailers, 48‑foot trailers, and box trucks.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, exercise sound judgment, and remain effective in fast‑paced environments.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to recognize colors and accurately identify materials and products.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to independently lift items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to safely perform team lifts for oversized or heavier items.
