The Division: Hexagon Autonomous Solution comprises of three divisions: Agriculture, Autonomy & Positioning and Mining – Providing a breadth of perception, positioning, vehicle autonomy and site orchestration technologies to enable the full autonomous solutions for the agriculture, mining, automotive and marine sectors.
The Project: Hexagon has partnered with our mining client to develop an autonomous haulage solution to deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port. The solution, which includes drive-by-wire technology and an autonomous management system, is a truck-agnostic, full-site solution designed to streamline vehicle movement in road-train haulage.
Responsibilities
The Position; Within our Core Autonomy Division, we are looking for an Autonomous Onboard Technology Engineer to join our Autonomous Technology Engineering Deployment team, based in Perth and Onslow. this role is Fly in Fly out 8:6 roster - point of hire Perth, Western Australia. In addition is a permanent full time position
As an Autonomous Onboard Technology Engineer your role will be….
- Responsible for the installation, commissioning, and operation of Hexagon automation technology on both autonomous and driven vehicle fleets, critical for safe autonomous operations
- Ongoing system monitoring and performance optimisation including coordinating implementation of software updates and patches
- Provide a helpdesk to address user inquiries, troubleshoot system issues, and provide technical guidance.
- Lead the data analysis and review of the automation technology, reporting any incidents and driving continuous improvement
In addition but not limited to the following responsibilities;
- Establish and enforce comprehensive safety protocols and risk management strategies to minimise accidents or incidents
- Provide hands-on training, instruction and advice on the effective use of Hexagon’s automation technology
- Implement and manage security measures to protect from un-authorised access, data breaches, and cyber threats
- Own technical configuration ensuring any changes are documented and approved via Management of Change procedure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of automation technologies
- Execute daily plans to ensure the deployment team adheres to the project schedule and budget constraints
Qualifications
About you
We are looking for experienced Engineering and Technology professionals who are ready for the next step in their career, where your knowledge, skills, experience and passion can be brought to the forefront of your role.
In addition we are seeking those with the following qualifications and desirable skills;
- Tertiary qualifications or higher in Engineering or Technology related disciplines
- Experience in mining technology and operations technology
- Experience with collision avoidance systems, onboard autonomy, personal safety systems or By-wire.
- Experience in mining operations, with knowledge of daily mine workings
- Experience with qualitative and data-driven risk assessments and continuous safety improvement methodologies.
- Experience with configuration management of autonomous technology systems.
- Experience with risk assessment frameworks such as the EMERST safety framework.
- Understanding of mine safety regulations, processes and systems
- Fast learner prepared to undertake significant training to become competent in Hexagon’s autonomous technology
- The ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- High attention to detail and the ability to identify and execute improvements to continuously optimise operations
- Valid Australian working rights : Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen
