POSITION OVERVIEW
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving occupational safety and health performance across Malaysia data center operations. The role supports safe execution of operational and maintenance activities, drives contractor safety performance, leads inspections and investigations, and promotes a proactive safety culture in a mission-critical environment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Advise management, supervisors, employees, and contractors on measures required to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
Conduct routine workplace inspections, audits, and safety observations across operational areas, plant rooms, electrical rooms, roofs, loading bays, and support spaces.
Lead and coordinate risk assessments, job hazard analyses, permit-to-work reviews, and method statement reviews for operational and maintenance activities.
Monitor compliance with safe systems of work for critical-risk activities including LOTO, work at height, confined space entry, lifting, hot work, and electrical work and other HRA.
Investigate incidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, occupational illnesses, and unsafe conditions; identify root causes and track corrective and preventive actions.
Compile, maintain, and analyze safety statistics, incident trends, inspection findings, and contractor performance metrics.
Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual EHS reports, management updates, action trackers, and other compliance documentation.
Support the maintenance of EHS procedures, records, and management system documentation in line with company standards and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 practices.
Coordinate inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings, drills, campaigns, and regulatory training programs.
Support Safety and Health Committee activities, including agenda preparation, minutes, action follow-up, and reporting.
Monitor contractor and vendor safety performance, validate submitted records, and maintain accurate reporting in Procore, SharePoint, or equivalent systems.
Liaise with DOSH, BOMBA, DOE, auditors, clients, and other stakeholders during inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
Drive continuous improvement and promote a positive safety culture across all operational activities.
Develop and deliver advanced regulatory and internal safety training programs.
Interpret and communicate regulatory changes and industry best practices.
Prepare and present safety performance updates to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Support cross-functional initiatives and mentor junior EHS professionals.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
Lead the environmental compliance and schedule waste management.
REGULATORY AND STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS
Must be a registered Safety and Health Officer with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia.
Maintain working knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514), its amendments, and applicable subsidiary regulations, orders, and codes of practice.
Perform statutory SHO/EO duties including workplace inspection, incident investigation, advisory support to the employer, maintenance of statistics, and monthly activity reporting to management.
Environmental Competency (CEPSWAM) will be an added advantage.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree or diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive EHS / OSH experience, ideally in data centers, critical facilities, utilities, industrial operations, or similar high-risk environments.
Practical experience managing contractor safety, permit-to-work systems, incident investigation, and operational risk controls is strongly preferred.

Effective incident investigation, root cause analysis, and report writing skills.
Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to deliver training, inductions, and safety briefings confidently.
Strong record management, organization, and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, presentations, and EHS tracking systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment with shifting priorities.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent presence in live operational data center environments, including electrical and mechanical plant areas, rooftops, loading or staging zones, and other controlled spaces. The role may require after-hours support during incidents, emergencies, audits, and critical maintenance activities. PPE use and adherence to access and permit controls are mandatory.
