Overview and Responsibilities

The High School Academy Specialist Advisor will act as a liaison between high school and CVTC faculty to monitor student progress and provide direct support and case management to students. This position is responsible for supporting student’s career pathways and bridging students from high school academies to career pathways at CVTC. The High School Academy Specialist Advisor supports administration, the Student Services team, and instructional staff and reports to the Director of Academic and Career Advising

 

Responsibilities:

  • Document, monitor, and case manage through use of the CRM students enrolled in High School Academy and Start College Now.
  • Support the First Year Experience and K-12 teams with academy orientations and informational sessions for both faculty and students.
  • Work collaboratively with CVTC Admissions Advisors and cross functional teams at CVTC to promote career pathways programming.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on career exploration and programming events.
  • Collaborate with CVTC Student Success and Accessibility Specialists to provide support to students who have barriers to their academics.
  • Collaborate and communicate with students and high school counselors to ensure successful completion of academies and courses, through CVTC’s Connect and Refer Process.
  • Work collaboratively with students, high school counselors, and CVTC academic advisors in the development of academic plans for degree completion.
  • Utilize Canvas to monitor and follow up with students regarding academic progress.
  • Respond to student concerns by connecting or referring students to appropriate high school and college resources.
  • Communicate with stakeholders on academy questions.
  • Act as a liaison between high school, CVTC faculty, and local employer partners in regard to academy and grant activities and reporting needs.
  • Serve as liaison to community partners and high schools, informing CVTC and high school students about academic programming, assessment resources, admissions, financial aid, and services and resources available at CVTC to help them be successful as a student at the college.
  • Collect and maintain data utilizing CRM on assigned students to track progress, participation, use of interventions, and outcomes.
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and staff in their effort to support students.
  • Assist with bridge programming to CVTC programs.
  • Participate on appropriate College teams and contribute to accomplishing the goals and objectives of the team(s).

  • Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Office 365 Suite.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to various regional campuses and other locations as needed to meet the obligations of the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human development, education, social science, or related field. Master’s degree in Career and Technical Education, School Counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a student or client support related area.
  • Experience working with high school students preferred.

2026 annual benefits include:
