REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Support Site Safety Network Programs.
Minimum Skills Required:
Strong background in polyimide polymer synthesis.
Broad experience with thermal, mechanical, and electrical property testing.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (MS Word), MS PowerPoint, and statistical analysis. SAP experience desired.
Experience with microscopy for film and defect evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to proactively and creatively conduct non-routine tasks with minimal supervision.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, ability to interface one-on-one with customers and give presentations.
Ability to perform physical work consistently with corporate ergonomic guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to be well organized.
Willingness to learn and participate in the development of new techniques and test methods.
Ability to work both independently and as part of team research effort.

OPERATIONS/FUNCTIONAL TASKS
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of an organic/polymer lab under the general guidance a Ph.D. principal investigator. Involves maintaining lab space cleanliness & equipment readiness in personal space and some shared areas
Work with other scientists and engineers to support R&D programs within the CPM business.
Conduct experiments, analyze results and make recommendations based on their analysis.
Maintain the primary ELN laboratory notebook, order materials, comply with relevant safety and environmental regulations, and prepare SOP's with minimal assistance.
One component of the work is wet organic/ polymer synthesis involving standard organic and polymer synthesis and purification techniques.
Another component of the work involves the processing and characterization of polymeric materials. (FT-IR, SEM, TMA, various Instron testing, DMA, TGA/DSC, Buehler epoxy cross-sections) with report out of results to research team.
Train on specialized skills as needed to meet R&D project deliverables, such as polymer processing/characterization practices such as compounding, extrusion, film casting, viscometry, and thermal-analysis is also needed.
Ability to execute multiple assignments, independently, and within expected deadlines. Although a working knowledge of polymer chemistry is not required, it is preferred. A willingness to learn that research area will be needed.
Accountable to complete one’s own assignments on time and will seek help from or offer help to others to keep the team workload on track.
Ability to help develop new R&D techniques and processes along with researchers, leveraging prior laboratory experience to assist with emergent R&D needs.
