Description

Are you the kind of person who keeps asking "why", thrives on solving complex problems, and wants to understand how a global bank manages its most significant risks? Then Credit Risk Audit could be the perfect next step in your career.

As a Credit Risk Audit Specialist, you will gain a unique perspective on the inner workings of one of Europe's leading financial institutions. You will assess how key credit risk decisions are made, challenge assumptions, identify emerging risks, and help strengthen the bank's resilience in an increasingly complex environment.

This role offers exposure to senior stakeholders, strategic priorities, and some of the most important risk topics facing the banking industry today.

The team
The Credit Risk Audit team provides independent assurance over ING's credit risk management framework, governance, processes, controls and decision-making. We assess whether the bank effectively identifies, measures, monitors and manages credit risk across Retail, Wholesale and Risk functions. We work on a broad range of topics, including credit underwriting, portfolio management, early warning systems, non-performing exposures, loan loss provisioning, risk monitoring, model usage and regulatory compliance. Our team combines analytical rigour with a collaborative and constructive approach. We are passionate about learning, continuous improvement and delivering meaningful impact for the bank and its stakeholders.

Roles and responsibilities
As a Credit Risk Audit Specialist, you will:

  • Execute audits covering key credit risk processes, governance frameworks and control environments.

  • Assess the effectiveness of credit underwriting, monitoring and portfolio management practices.

  • Analyse complex risk data, portfolio trends and management information.

  • Evaluate the design and effectiveness of credit risk controls and mitigation measures.

  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities to strengthen risk management practices.

  • Formulate clear, impactful and practical audit observations and recommendations.

  • Engage with senior stakeholders across Business, Risk and Finance functions.

  • Contribute to the continuous development of Credit Risk Audit capabilities and methodologies.

How to succeed
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you'll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we'll support you in developing into an even more awesome version of yourself.

To be successful in this role, you bring:

  • A Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Econometrics, Risk Management, Mathematics or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • A genuine interest in banking, credit risk management and financial services.

  • The ability to understand complex issues and communicate them clearly and confidently.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to challenge constructively.

  • Intellectual curiosity, learning agility and a positive, growth-oriented mindset.

No one matches every requirement perfectly. If this role feels like the right next step for you, we encourage you to apply. We'd love to learn more about your experience, the impact you've made and what you would bring to our team.
