Job Summary:
The Technical Editor / Quality Assurance Specialist ensures DoD program documentation and contract deliverables meet the highest standards of clarity, accuracy, and compliance. This role is responsible for reviewing, editing, and improving technical documents including acquisition plans, reports, briefings, and deliverables. The specialist works collaboratively with authors, subject matter experts, and program managers to maintain consistent style, terminology, and regulatory adherence across all written products. Ancillary duties include assisting with related administrative functions such as deliverable routing and consolidation of comments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial quality reviews to flag obvious issues
- Check documents for basic compliance with organizational or industry standards
- Correct basic grammatical errors and typographical issues in program documents
- Ensure basic adherence to document templates and formatting standards
- Assist with correcting common formatting issues involving styles, headers, tables of contents/figures and cross referencing
- Prepare documentation for final signatures and publication
- Maintain repository of acronyms and unfamiliar terminology
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to document authors
- Maintain version control and track document changes
- Facilitate document routing and consolidation of comments from multiple reviewers
- Stay updated with basic editing tools and techniques
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related discipline
- Experience: 0–5 years of related experience for a government contractor or military service
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience editing DoD acquisition documents (program documentation, CDRLs, SOWs)
- Familiarity with DoD and government writing standards (e.g., AP Style, MIL-STD, Naval Correspondence)
- High proficiency with basic Microsoft Word and PowerPoint functions
- Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint functions
- Proficiency with Adobe Standard/Pro functions
- Experience with document management systems (e.g., SharePoint)

- Travel Requirements: Minimal/None
- Ability to obtain Secret security clearance required; active clearance preferred

Salary Range:
$55,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.
