The Global Tax & Customs (GTC) Team drives Cisco's adherence to various Tax & Customs regulations and compliance globally where Cisco has its business footprint. The team focuses on achieving tax efficiency, tax compliance and managing Cisco's effective tax rate to enhance shareholder value.

Your Impact

• We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Tax Manager to join our Global Tax & Customs team in India. In this role, you will play a key role in supporting direct tax and transfer pricing disputes in India, supporting regional and cross-border tax compliance and projects, and providing support for tax matters across Australia and the APJ region.

• Supporting India direct tax strategy, including compliance, appeals, litigation, and representation before tax authorities.

• Conducting in-depth tax research, analysis, and risk assessments on tax disputes.

• Supporting tax structuring and planning projects as required.

• Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external advisors (including Big 4 and legal counsel) to support tax issues and ensure compliance.

• Supporting tax advocacy for direct tax with industry and trade bodies.

• Assisting APJ tax managers on regional tax controversy matters and tax compliance when required.

• Monitoring regulatory and legislative changes affecting tax in India, Australia, and APJ, and communicating and implementing required changes within the organization.

• Supporting the review of new business deals and transactions to assess tax implications, identify risks, and ensure alignment with Cisco’s global tax policies.

• Preparing technical documentation and supporting responses to tax notices, assessments, and litigation matters.

• Participating in cross-functional projects and supporting broader global tax initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant (CA) with 6-8 years of post-qualification experience in the tax function of a Big 4 firm or a large multinational corporation (MNC).

• Tax Controversy Expertise: Demonstrated experience in handling complex tax disputes, appeals, and litigation, particularly regarding India direct tax and transfer pricing matters.

• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in tax research, analysis, and risk assessments to drive practical insights and recommendations.

• Compliance & Strategy: Proven ability to support tax structuring, planning projects, and regional tax controversy matters.

• Tax technical documentation & drafting: Ability to prepare technical documentation and accurately respond to tax notices and assessments.

• Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to translate complex tax issues into actionable business insights for stakeholders.

• Collaboration: Strong stakeholder management skills with experience collaborating with global teams and external legal/tax advisors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma in International Taxation from ICAI.

• Regional Exposure: Experience or exposure to Australia and APJ tax environments.

• Tax Advocacy: Experience in tax advocacy for direct tax with industry and trade bodies.
