Position Summary
Performs administrative support for the Communications and Corrections Division of the Swift County Sheriff’s Office. 

Scope of Responsibility 
Responsible to provide administrative, clerical, and customer service activities maintaining the security and accuracy of civil, criminal and administrative records. Performs the duties of a Communications and Corrections Officer when required, and related work.Duties and Responsibilities 
Essential Functions 
A. Provides information for the County Attorney Office, Benson and Appleton Police 
Departments. Forwards reports and incidents to the County Attorney for charging. 
B. Reviews and codes incidents. 
C. Manages case files. 
D. Performs records checks. 
E. Reviews and releases information to the public as appropriate and within statutory 
guidelines. 
F. Transcribes information.  
G. Processes civil process functions: prepares civil process papers for service; collects and 
processes payments; attends civil process training; maintains and reconciles Department 
checking account. 
H. Coordinates electronic alcohol and home confinement monitoring for inmates and persons 
on probation. Forwards completed information to probation office and the courts. 
I. 
Prepares handgun purchase and carry permits for review and approval; maintains finances, 
prepares financial report on carry permits for the State of Minnesota. 
J. Assists jail and dispatch office. 
K. Performs receptionist duties: Greets the public and provides information; answers phones 
and directs calls; sorts and routes mail. 
L. Orders and maintains office inventory. 
M. Troubleshoots computer issues. 
N. Assigns new 911 addresses; notifies Auditor’s Office of new addresses. 
O. Coordinates and completes Mortgage Foreclosure sales and paperwork.  
P. Performs the duties of a Communications and Corrections Officer when required. 

Additional Functions
A. Attends training, education and meeting sessions. 
B. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. Minimum Qualifications 
A. High school diploma or equivalent with coursework in accounting, record keeping or office 
support or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
B. Valid MN Driver’s License. 
C. Possess or ability to acquire Notary Public Certification. 
D. Ability to successfully complete training for Data Practices Law and Handgun laws within 
one year of hire. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
A. Knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment and of business English, 
spelling and arithmetic. 
B. Knowledge and skill operating standard office computer equipment and applicable 
hardware and software. 
C. Ability to read and understand policies, procedures, manuals, etc. 
D. Ability to maintain complex records. 
E. Skill in transcription. 
F. Ability to operate finger print machine, dispatch radio and paging system, portable breath 
test machines; and standard office computer equipment and applicable hardware and 
software. 
G. Ability to provide credible testimony in court.  
H. Ability to multi-task with numerous interruptions and prioritize as necessary. 
I. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills as applied to 
interactions with staff, associates, officials, and the general public. 
J. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
