This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and commissioning a wide variety of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems used throughout our liquids pipeline operations.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified technical professional with demonstrated expertise in process controls, instrumentation, PLC systems, electrical equipment, automated valves, communications systems, and related control technologies. This position requires strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative field team environment.

What You Will Do

  • Install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, and control systems supporting pipeline and terminal operations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, HMI systems, communication networks, smart instrumentation, motor control centers, and automated valve systems.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain variable frequency drives, soft-start equipment, power distribution systems, electrical generators, pumps, and associated field equipment.
  • Support system commissioning, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze equipment performance and recommend maintenance, reliability, and operational improvements.
  • Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
  • Ensure work activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards.
  • Supervise contractors and coordinate third-party work activities as required.
  • Issue permits, perform lockout/tagout activities, and support safe work authorization processes.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, work orders, and asset records using computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response activities.
  • Provide technical coaching, mentoring, and training to less experienced technicians.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman certification in Instrumentation, Electrical, Industrial Controls, Electronics, or a related trade; or
  • Two-year technical diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related discipline combined with significant directly related experience.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in industrial EIC maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience with PLCs, motor control systems, instrumentation, process controls, automated valves, and communications equipment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical, instrumentation, and controls issues.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety practices including lockout/tagout and permit-to-work systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency and experience with maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong teamwork and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in liquids pipeline, terminal, pump station, oil and gas, petrochemical, or other continuous process industries.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, DCS systems, communications networks, and industrial cybersecurity practices.
  • Experience leading maintenance projects or coordinating contractor work.
  • Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience.

This Position Requires Candidates To

  • Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment medical, drug, and alcohol testing.
  • Travel periodically to other South Bow facilities for training, meetings, or temporary assignments.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations as required.
