Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented RAMS Lead to join our team! The successful candidate will have direct experience of the development and assurance of complex rail infrastructure and rolling stock systems. With a focus across the system lifecycle, you will be involved in: · Reliability Availability Maintainability Safety (RAMS) assessment · Requirements development and management · Concept generation, evaluation and selection · System design and design assessments · System verification planning and assessment · Through Life Cost modelling and assessment · Risk assessment (both technical and project) · Use of Requirements Management and System Modelling/Architecting tools (DOORS and System Architect preferred)

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Ability to manage and challenge the contractor RAMS delivery.

  • Ability of workload sharing within RMTC team.

  • Ability to build and deliver a strong reporting on RAMS delivery and issues.

  • Calculating equipment failure rates using data from various sources and using this information to develop Reliability Block Diagrams (diagrammatic method for showing how component reliability contributes to the success or failure of a complex system).

  • Working with Engineering to agree upon failure rate targets for sub-systems.

  • High probability of working at a given time or when required

  • Develop availability models to support projects and proposed designs based on the Reliability Block Diagrams.

  • Providing targets for vendor supplied equipment to Engineering, and incorporating into RAMS requirements for vendors.

  • Developing Maintainability Analyses and perform other required maintainability tasks.
    Primary point of contact for safety activities and issues, and leading the discussion of system safety activities with the project team, Engineering, and with the customer.

  • Providing functional guidance on preparation of inspection and test plans, and ensuring proper staff approval and implementation occurs.

  • Interpreting safety requirements of customer contract and notify affected areas of any changes.

  • Ensuring that all of the necessary safety analyses are conducted according to requirements and schedules; and performing detailed safety analyses and hazard analyses using techniques such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analyses) and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis).

  • Managing and tracking all hazards and safety requirements in a Database (MS-Access or similar).

  • Supporting the safety efforts of the project by coordinating efforts among the various engineering disciplines and contractors for System safety.

  • Providing technical expertise in support of Program Management, Manufacturing, Field Start-up, Operations and Maintenance Manual production, and Design Engineering.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Electrical

  • Minimum 15 years of experience

  • RAMS Engineering experience

  • Experience of quantified RAMS analysis and methods

  • Able to demonstrate their knowledge of RAMS analysis and methods

  • Strong knowledge in the EN50126 standard (Europe standard for safety) or equivalent

  • Knowledgeable in a faulty programs

  • Experience of Engineering Safety Management processes and objectives

  • Able to demonstrate their knowledge of Engineering Safety Management processes and objectives

  • Undertaken either safety or reliability studies, but must be capable in both fields

  • Experience of undertaking availability assessments

  • Experience of leading hazard identification & risk assessment workshops
