JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Congregate Meal Site Coordinator

Reports To: Reports to Community Meal Site Manager

Department: Nutrition

FLSA Status: ( ) Exempt or (X) Non Exempt

Position Summary:

The Congregate Meal Site Coordinator operates an assigned Title III-C congregate nutrition meal program for older adults in the community. Oversees the daily food service operations of the meal site, serving meals to participants, and meal delivery to homebound residents in the building if applicable, while abiding by food safety and EOEA guidelines and regulations.

Job Responsibilities and Performance Standards:

  1. Coordinate and implement the food service components of the meal program, including the ordering, receiving, and serving of food, setting tables, taking food temperatures, monitoring food quality, and ensuring food safety measures are followed, including cleaning, and sanitizing before and after each meal service. 
  2. Follow all required food safety regulations and trainings per local inspectional services and EOEA.  
  3. Creates and maintains a welcoming, social, and supportive atmosphere for all meal participants. 
  4. Maintain accurate meal site reports and records, such as daily temperature logs, meal site attendance, food orders, menu observations, and new meal site registration forms. Completes and forwards all necessary documents to the Nutrition Office on a regular monthly basis.   
  5. Maintains pertinent paperwork and donations locked up and secure when not in use. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. 
  6. Recruit volunteers from community to assist with meal service. Provide supervision, training, and support to volunteers. 
  7. Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of services and events offered at SCES, and other community outreach resources such as the Councils on Aging to identify and present appropriate information to older adults in the community that may be in need and eligible for services.
  8. May be responsible for delivery of home delivered meals for the Meals-on-Wheels program if a meal site is in an elderly housing facility and notifying Nutrition Office daily if a consumer is not home to receive their meals.
  9. Participate in required agency and food service trainings (food safety, allergy, choke saver).
  10. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience in food service and food safety preferred. 
  • Must be dependable (consistent attendance, timeliness, and follow-through on job to completion). 
  • Able and interested in relating to a diverse population. Experience working directly with elders preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise volunteers, if applicable.  
  • Good organizational and time management skills required. 
  • Knowledge of community resources strongly preferred; ability to develop and maintain a good working knowledge of community resources required. 
  • Must meet both CORI/SORI and public health screening requirements.

Physical Environment

  • Physical surroundings may be hectic, dangerous, and hot in kitchen especially during peak food service times.  
  • Floors may be wet and slippery, use caution and appropriate shoes for food service environment.  

Social/Psychological Conditions

  • May be stressful at times, especially during peak food service time, interruptions involved.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and manage time accordingly. 
  • Ability to work independently

Physical Effort

  • Daily cleaning and sanitizing; receiving, and serving of food
  • Physical use of food service equipment 
  • Frequently stands, walks, bends, reaches, and stoops throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift 15-20 pounds.

Pay ranges from $20 to $23 an hour depending on experience and skills.
