Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an experienced greenhouse gas (GHG) Accountant to support the firm’s global Net Zero Program within the Corporate Sustainability function. This role will be responsible for end-to-end GHG accounting for the company’s own operations and value chain emissions, ensuring data integrity, methodological consistency, and alignment with global standards.The GHG Accountant will lead data collection, emissions calculations, and reporting processes, leveraging both Excel and dedicated GHG accounting platforms. This role will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders and play a critical role in maintaining audit-ready emissions inventories, supporting regulatory disclosures, and informing progress toward Science Based Targets (SBTs) and Net Zero commitments. This role will also support our growing Occupier sustainability consulting practice in the Americas.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Own and execute enterprise-wide GHG accounting processes across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions
Collect, validate, and organize activity data from internal stakeholders and third-party sources
Perform emissions calculations using standardized methodologies and tools, including Excel and GHG platforms, as applicable.
Maintain and update emission factors, calculation methodologies, and documentation in alignment with GHG Protocol
Ensure strong data governance, including execution of controls, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation
Facilitate and support annual engagement with third-party assurance provider
Support the design and continuous improvement of GHG accounting systems, tools, and processes
Conduct quality assurance and data validation to ensure completeness and accuracy of energy and emissions data
Partner with internal teams (Controllership, Procurement, Corporate Real Estate, Sustainability Services) to improve data quality and coverage, where appropriate
Analyze emissions data and trends to provide insights that inform decarbonization strategies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, finance, or related field; Master's degree or equivalent preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in GHG accounting, sustainability analytics, ESG reporting, or similar role
- Strong understanding of GHG Protocol, Scope 1/2/3 accounting, and emissions calculation methodologies
- Hands-on proficiency with GHG accounting platforms and Excel-based models to build data models, templates, and reporting dashboards
- Experience working with large datasets, data validation, and audit processes
- Support implementation and optimization of new sustainability data systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data modeling, analysis); experience with Power BI or similar tools is a plus
- High attention to detail and strong data accuracy mindset
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret complex datasets
- Strong organizational and process management capabilities
- Effective communication skills with ability to translate technical data into insights
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global, cross-functional environment
- Continuous improvement mindset with focus on efficiency and scalability
