Quality Control Technician
Huntsman is seeking a Quality Control Technician supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Arlington, Texas. This position will report to the Quality Control Lead.
Job Scope
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality of chemical blends through laboratory testing, analysis, documentation, and compliance with established specifications and quality standards. This role supports both Production and R&D activities by performing testing on raw materials, production batches, and developmental products while maintaining laboratory equipment, records, and a safe working environment.
In summary, as the Quality Control Technician, you will:
- Conduct quality control testing on production batches, incoming materials, and R&D samples using established laboratory procedures.
- Perform analytical testing including appearance evaluation, water titration, FTIR analysis, viscosity, density, specific gravity, thermal conductivity, color comparison, and foam spraying.
- Record and maintain accurate test results using SAP, laboratory notebooks, logs, and batch records.
- Collaborate with Production teams to ensure batches meet quality specifications and facilitate product release.
- Release qualified batches after verifying compliance with all specifications and escalate out-of-specification results to the Quality Lead.
- Perform routine calibration, verification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Operate and maintain spray testing equipment and facilities to support QC and R&D activities.
- Maintain retained samples and ensure proper disposal in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Maintain quality system documentation and records in compliance with document control procedures.
- Support R&D testing initiatives and spray evaluations as needed.
- Investigate customer complaint samples and assist in root cause analysis efforts.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a scientific discipline preferred; relevant laboratory, manufacturing, or quality control experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, quality control, or related industrial environment.
Skills and knowledge
- Knowledge of basic chemistry principles and laboratory testing techniques.
- Understanding of quality systems, laboratory documentation practices, and document control requirements.
- Ability to identify quality concerns and support root cause investigations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong safety mindset and commitment to safe work practices.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new software systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technician diploma or technical training in a relevant field.
- Associate's degree in a scientific discipline.
- Experience using laboratory information systems, SAP, or similar quality management software.
- Experience supporting R&D testing and evaluation activities.
Working Environment
- Work is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
- Regular exposure to isocyanates and other chemical products in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Participation in physically demanding activities on a daily basis.
- Successful completion of a lung function test and ability to wear a respirator when required.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including Tyvek suits, safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, and other required safety gear.
