Management Company - Accounting Manager

What You Will Do:

• Own the accounting relationship for a portfolio of Petra's Management Company clients, serving as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor to client stakeholders
• Lead and review the full scope of Management Company Accounting for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and quality across the team's output
• Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, providing technical guidance and reviewing their work product
• Partner directly with client CFOs, controllers, and Fund Administration teams as a senior representative of Petra
• Drive process improvement initiatives across the Management Company Accounting function
• Lead client meetings, including presenting financials and fielding questions from client leadership
• Grow into a broader leadership role within Petra's Management Company Accounting practice

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and review all aspects of Management Company Accounting across an assigned client portfolio, including Holdings and GP-level entities
• Review and approve calculation and recording of Revenues and Expenses, ensuring proper allocation methodology is applied
• Oversee client payables processes and third-party vendor payments, ensuring adequate controls
• Review cash transaction recording and bank reconciliations prepared by staff
• Review and finalize client financial statements and supporting workbooks at the Management Company, Holdings, and GP levels before client delivery
• Serve as the senior liaison with Fund Administration teams, maintaining due to manager records and reporting, and resolving escalated issues
• Oversee Portfolio Company invoice preparation for reimbursement
• Lead the annual audit and 1099 processes for assigned clients, serving as primary contact for auditors
• Own closing calendars and client meeting agendas, holding the team accountable to deadlines
• Identify and implement process efficiencies and best practices across the client portfolio
• Support onboarding of new clients and staff training on Management Company Accounting processes

 

 

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred
• 6-8+ years' experience in accounting, with meaningful exposure to Alternative Asset Management, fund administration, or Big Four
• Prior experience reviewing the work of junior staff and/or direct people management experience
• Strong understanding of the full accounting close cycle, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and T&E
• Proficient in accounting systems; prior experience with Sage Intacct a plus
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client relationships concurrently, including presenting to and advising senior client stakeholders
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Team-first mentality with a track record of developing others
• Desire to build and lead a growing accounting function

 

 

Salary Range
At Petra Funds Group, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The compensation range for this position is $102,000 - $153,000 per year. This range represents the base salary only. Actual pay will depend on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills.
