Engineering Technician, Process Engineering

Job's mission

As a Process Engineering Technician, you will support Process Engineers in the execution of semiconductor process development activities within the R&D laboratory. You will play a critical role in ensuring experiments are executed safely, efficiently, and consistently by operating process equipment, handling wafers and samples, performing routine measurements, maintaining accurate records, and supporting laboratory operations.

You will work closely with Process Engineers to collect high-quality experimental data, maintain laboratory readiness, and assist in basic troubleshooting activities. Your contributions enable rapid learning cycles and successful development of next-generation semiconductor processes.

What you will be working on

Process Execution

• Execute routine wafer processing activities according to defined experimental plans and operating procedures.
• Operate semiconductor process equipment under the guidance of Process Engineers.
• Prepare, load, unload, and track wafers and test samples throughout experiment flows.
• Support process development activities by running repeatable experiments and ensuring process adherence.

Metrology and Data Collection

• Perform routine wafer inspections and measurements using laboratory metrology tools.
• Collect, organize, and record process and metrology data accurately and promptly.
• Verify experimental data quality and highlight abnormalities to Process Engineers.
• Maintain detailed experimental records and documentation.

Laboratory Operations and Logistics

• Coordinate wafer and sample movement between laboratories, engineering teams, and external partners when required.
• Manage incoming and outgoing samples, consumables, and lab materials.
• Support inventory tracking of wafers, chemicals, lab supplies, and consumables.
• Ensure workstations, tools, and laboratory areas remain organized and operational.
• Assist with lab scheduling, sample tracking, and general laboratory logistics.

Equipment Support

• Perform routine equipment preparation, qualification checks, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Escalate equipment issues and process abnormalities to Process Engineers.
• Support equipment setup, calibration, and recovery activities following established procedures.
• Assist engineers during tool qualifications and process characterization activities.

Troubleshooting Support

• Support Process Engineers in investigating process deviations and equipment issues.
• Perform basic troubleshooting activities using established procedures and engineering guidance.
• Assist with data collection and root-cause investigations.
• Contribute observations and recommendations for improving laboratory efficiency and process consistency.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow all cleanroom protocols, contamination-control requirements, and laboratory safety procedures.
• Adhere to chemical handling, gas safety, and equipment operation requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with engineering and quality standards.
• Promote a safe and organized laboratory environment.

What we are looking for

• Minimum a Diploma in Engineering, Applied Science, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a semiconductor manufacturing facility, R&D laboratory, process development environment, or similar technical settings
• Hands-on experience working in cleanroom environments.
• Familiarity with wafer handling, semiconductor process equipment, and laboratory operations.
• Experience operating metrology or inspection tools
• Ability to follow experimental procedures with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
• Strong attention to detail and good documentation practices.
• Willingness to support shift work when required.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

What sets you apart

• Experience supporting semiconductor process development or integration activities.
• Familiarity with wafer processing equipment such as deposition, etch, clean, anneal, or metrology systems.
• Experience in sample management, laboratory logistics, and inventory control.
• Understanding of SPC, DOE, experimental data collection, and process monitoring.
• Ability to identify process anomalies and support structured troubleshooting activities.
• Experience working closely with Process Engineers in R&D or technology development environments.
