Senior Civil Engineer (PE)

Description
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Provide engineering design and calculations for a variety of public and private sector projects including projects associated with the local government continuing services contracts and private development projects, from project inception through completion. Be responsible for maintaining project schedules, interacting with client contacts to ensure the project design remains consistent with client expectations, and all applicable permitting agencies to ensure securing of all required project permits.
- Develop site plans for commercial and/or residential developments including overall site layouts, grading plans, erosion and sediment control plans, plan and profiles, section views, utility plans, etc.
- Perform stormwater management design/calculations and reports in accordance with local jurisdictional and water management district requirements.
- Utility designs including water systems, lift stations, force main, sanitary sewer for commercial, residential and municipal projects.
- Preparation and modification of calculations, construction cost estimates, designs, reports, permit applications, construction plans and specifications for project.
- Perform computer-aided design of all site development related components including but not limited to grading, utilities, spatial layout of infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater to produce plans in accordance with various standards and criteria.
- Review and QA/QC of tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff.
- Review of contractor submittals to ensure conformance with approved plans, technical specifications, and approved products list.
- Analyze available data and regulatory framework to assist in determining the feasibility of potential projects.
- Assists Office Leader/Manager with the preparation of scope of services and fee estimation for potential projects.
- Prepare design and permitting schedules for the execution of projects.
- Perform construction observation of projects to monitor progress and ensure conformance. to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
- Perform project close-out duties and conducts de-brief with team.
What you'll need
- Experience with computer design software, AutoDesk Civil 3D, is required.
- Experience designing site development and utility projects from project inception through construction.
- Experience designing all aspects (grading, stormwater, utilities, erosion control, infrastructure layout, etc.) of commercial and residential site development is required.
- Experience with stormwater modeling tools such as ICPR4, TR-55/TR-20, Hydraflow, HydroCAD, PONDs.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software tools such as WaterGEMs and SewerCAD.
- Knowledge of site development and zoning requirements typical for Brevard County and local municipalities is desired.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
- Ability to work with clients and regulatory agencies to facilitate approval of permit applications and plans.
- Possess budget and job tracking, project scheduling skills and ability to communicate with subcontractors, outside vendors and client contacts.
- Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written.
- bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer registration (PE), registered in the State of Florida.
- 7+ years of diversified experience completing municipal and/or private development projects from inception through permitting.
- Strong capability to engage with clients creating trusted relationships and working with their team to deliver solutions
- Experience with road improvement projects, site projects, stormwater design, grading and paving design, and utilities (water/wastewater) design.
- Permitting experience with various state agencies (WMD, FDOT, FDEP, etc.) – ability to effectively address agency RAIs and communication with agency reviewers.
- Ability to manage the schedule and budget for multiple projects at the same time.
- Demonstrated experience working with ICPR4, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and other similar support software necessary to perform the position functions.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
