ChristianaCare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Service Assistant III to serve as a Host/Hostess. This unique role is designed to enhance the patient and visitor experience by providing warm, welcoming, and attentive food service support in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Location: Christiana Hospital– Newark, DE
Schedule: Part-Time (30 hrs./week)
 

What You’ll Do:

• Serve meals and snacks to patients in accordance with dietary guidelines.
• Collect and process patient menu selections using iPad technology.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure accurate diet orders.
• Provide outstanding customer service and practice service recovery.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of pantry and service areas.
• Monitor patient satisfaction and communicate feedback to the nutrition team.
• Rotate between morning and evening shifts to support 24/7 patient care.

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous food service experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable using technology (iPad) for menu collection.
• ServSafe certification is a plus.

This position has a starting rate of $18.08 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.15 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $22.18 per hour.

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
