Summary

Primary responsibility is to operate a front-end loader safely while loading the hopper and aggregate bins for the concrete plant, loading trucks, maintaining aggregate stockpiles, and maintaining plant and yards areas. This position will also perform routine machine maintenance.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
  • Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
  • Keep the plant hoppers loaded with the proper amount of materials and notify Plant Manager of any impending shortages.
  • Stockpile excess material to be processed.
  • Effectively operate equipment loader according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assist Dispatch and Plant Manager in driver communications.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in dispatch and other duties when necessary.
  • Properly follow company, OSHA, and MSHA safety procedures and promote the company safety program.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
  • Perform general cleanup of equipment and yard.
  • Comply with and support the company environmental policies and company spill response plans.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as necessary to include hearing protection, dust masks, safety glasses, boots, harnesses and other clothing as required.
  • Perform other functions and duties as required or directed.


EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS 

  • Candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidate should have one year of equipment operation experience.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must be drug free.

Position requires moderately strenuous physical work. 

Must be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 45 pounds from floor to 3’ – 5’ occasionally,
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds frequently,
  • Climb in and out of equipment 50+ times per day,
  • Climb up and down ladders occasionally,
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time,
  • Use hands, fingers, and feet to operate and/or service heavy construction machinery and concrete mixers and haul trucks,
  • Travel safely while walking and while operating heavy machinery and/or trucks over uneven terrain, roads, and pavement,
  • See, hear, and respond to verbal, visual, and written instructions and to moving heavy construction machinery,
  • Wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves,
  • Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery,
  • Continually work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions, 
  • Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally, 

Environment will vary from outdoors with varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at operating sites to a normal office environment.
