Description
The purpose of this position is to help maintain daily operations of the airport including the movement, fueling, loading, and unloading of passenger luggage and/or supplies of all aircraft coming in or leaving the airport for the City of Spartanburg and is responsible for the maintenance and implementation of airport programs. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.• Manages day to day operations and airport activities with division managers and supervisors.
• Supervises, instructs, and provides leadership to subordinate staff.
• Provides airport maintenance and assists in maintaining airport security.
• Moves, and fuels aircraft.
• Serves as aircraft marshaller signaling the pilot to keep turning, slow down, stop, and shut down engines, leading the aircraft to its parking stand or to the runway.
• Loads and unloads aircraft luggage or payload.
• Sweeps foreign object debris from runways.
• Performs lavatory service for aircraft as requested.
• Operates ground power units to provide electrical power to any planes requiring assistance.
• Ensures wildlife free perimeter around the airport.
• Picks up tow bars, heavy chalks, and other miscellaneous items like luggage, deliveries, airplane parts, and cargo.
• Receives and handles complaints providing assistance, information, and solutions as needed.
• Performs related work as assigned.• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency.
• Two (2) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Salary depends upon experience and qualifications. Starting salary is $44,678.40 annually.
