Technical Team Leader – Fleet Management System

Role overview

We are seeking a Technical Team Leader to lead a small onshore development team (approx. 5 developers) responsible for designing, building, and testing these enhancements.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role. The successful candidate will combine strong full stack engineering capability with the ability to plan, organise, and guide day‑to‑day delivery. You will work closely with the Solution Architect, translate detailed designs into executable work, and ensure work is delivered to a high standard.

This is not a people‑only leadership role — you will be expected to contribute code when required and act as a technical role model for the team.

 

Key responsibilities

Technical leadership & delivery

• Act as technical lead for a squad of developers, providing guidance, support, and direction
• Work closely with the Solution Architect to understand Detail Designs and technical intent
• Collaborate with the Architect to:
  • Break designs into Epics
  • Further decompose Epics into well‑structured user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Own the day‑to‑day execution of the sprint plan, ensuring work progresses as planned
• Provide hands‑on technical input, including coding, reviews, and problem solving where required

Team management & utilisation

• Manage day‑to‑day activities of the offshore developers
• Assign stories to individual developers based on skillsets, capacity, and priorities
• Ensure developers are fully utilised and working on the right tasks
• Conduct regular check‑ins with team members to:
  • Track progress
  • Identify risks or blockers early
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance
• Foster strong collaboration and accountability within the team

Quality & engineering standards

• Ensure solutions are built in line with agreed architecture, coding standards, and best practices
• Review code and designs to ensure:
  • Maintainability and clarity
  • Performance and reliability
  • Adherence to security and safety considerations
• Support testing activities and ensure features are production‑ready before deployment
• Contribute to improving engineering practices across the squad

Stakeholder collaboration

• Act as a key technical point of contact between:
  • Solution Architecture
  • Offshore development team
• Clearly communicate technical progress, risks, and dependencies
• Support planning and refinement sessions with clear and practical input

 

Required experience and skills

This role requires all the capabilities of a Senior Full Stack or Backend Developer, plus proven experience leading technical teams.

Backend (required)

• Strong, hands‑on experience with C# and .NET
• Proven experience designing and building microservices and event‑driven systems
• Strong SQL skills and experience with SQL Server
• Experience using Entity Framework or similar ORMs
• Comfortable owning APIs, service design, and data models
• Ability to reason about performance, reliability, and scalability in production systems

Frontend (required)

• Strong experience building applications with React
• Experience using modern component libraries such as MUI, Mantine, or shadcn
• Experience with state management solutions such as Redux, Zustand, or MobX
• A strong focus on building maintainable, clear, and user‑friendly interfaces

Technical leadership (required)

• Experience leading or acting as a technical lead for a development team
• Demonstrated ability to break complex designs into epics and implementable stories
• Experience assigning work, managing capacity, and tracking delivery progress
• Ability to mentor developers and elevate overall team capability
• Comfortable balancing hands‑on coding with leadership responsibilities

 

Nice to have (not mandatory)

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Prior experience delivering mining, industrial, or safety‑critical systems
• Experience working with open pit mining solutions or fleet management platforms
• Experience working with distributed or offshore delivery teams

We are primarily looking for strong engineers and technical leaders. Mining domain experience is advantageous but not essential.
