[What the role is]

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore's (CAAS) raison d'etre is to develop the air hub and aviation industry in Singapore, expanding Singapore's links to the rest of the world. We enable opportunities through aviation, making connections, opening doors and enabling choices in people's lives.

Responsibilities
Particularly for this role, you will be involved in facilitating the safe and efficient growth of the Singapore civil aviation industry and contributing towards CAAS becoming a leading civil aviation authority by directing regulatory safety oversight functions in the area of Singapore flight crew licensing and training. Your contributions to the development of safety standards, policies and regulations, as well as research into key developments on training and licensing of flight crews, will ensure that our regulations and safety oversight functions deliver the highest standards of safety.

[What you will be working on]

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Approving and conducting safety oversight on Singapore flight crew and its training organisations and flight simulation training devices

  • Assessing the safety management systems of the Aviation Training Organisations with aircraft operations

  • Ensuring that the examination, training and licensing standards meet ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices and are in line with international best practices

  • Developing licensing and training standards/policies which are responsive to the needs of the aviation industry

  • Promotion of a strong, positive safety culture among the flight crew and the Aviation Training organisations

  • Conduct of investigations on incidents and accidents involving flight crew

Your contribution to aviation will extend beyond Singapore, with opportunities to work with international partners and safety experts.

[What we are looking for]

  • Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) with Flying Instructor Rating, and preferably flight examiner authorisation

  • At least 500 hours of flight instructional experience on civil transport aircraft or equivalent military aircraft

  • Preferably with experience in civil aviation management and operations or regulatory work, or in pilot training

  • Possess a strong sense of purpose and drive to contribute to the development of aviation safety

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills

Note: Your appointment designation will commensurate with your relevant work experience. Successful candidates will be offered a 3-year contract in the first instance and may be considered for placement on a permanent tenure or subsequent contract renewal.
