POSITION IS LOCATED IN TORRANCE, CA

What will this person be working on:
Technical production support, application enhancement, and project work for enterprise Parts Applications and related mainframe systems

Key Responsibilities:

• Successful candidate will assume the role of Mainframe Systems SME and provide technical analysis, design, development, and implementation support to the Project Manager and/or Team Manager on various Parts Applications projects
• Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications, application design components, development tasks, and units of work completed by the successful candidate and other team members
• Assigned units of work vary from >100 hour technical enhancements to defined application design, development, integration, testing, and implementation deliverables on large projects
• Responsible for gathering and analyzing requirements; performing functional and detailed technical analysis/design; developing and validating application changes through unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing; supporting implementation, technical documentation, warranty analysis, and post-implementation defect resolution
• Defining architectural and technical design solutions to meet application, integration, data, and performance requirements
• Analyze existing mainframe application functionality, data flows, interfaces, batch processes, and downstream system dependencies.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications for COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, and DB2 application changes.
• Evaluate alternative technical solutions for application enhancements, system integrations, performance improvements, and production defects.
• Design and implement mainframe application changes, batch jobs, data access logic, file/database updates, and integration points.
• Perform technical impact analysis across Parts Applications, warehousing, supply chain, and related enterprise systems.
• Support root cause analysis of production incidents and implement permanent technical fixes.
• Validate application changes against technical requirements, data integrity requirements, and integration requirements.
• Ensure solutions comply with SDLC standards, technical design standards, change management requirements, and enterprise architecture practices.
• Providing technical status to Project Manager/Lead, as needed, including application design progress, development status, system dependencies, implementation risks, defects, and technical issue resolution
• Analysis/Design roughly 30-40%; Development, including code, unit testing, integration testing, system testing, UAT support, implementation, and warranty defect analysis, roughly 30-40%; Architectural and technical solution design roughly 20-40%

Desired Skills:

• Proficient in COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, DB2, and System Development Life Cycle concepts
• Experience working in Microsoft development technologies, including .NET Core, MVC.NET, C#, and Angular, is a plus
• Working knowledge of software engineering, software development, technical design, solution architecture, system integration, and implementation of medium to large scale systems across multiple platforms
• Ability to collaborate with multiple technical and business disciplines across the enterprise to analyze requirements, validate solution designs, and implement application changes
• Understanding of technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices, and ability to apply them to application design, development, integration, and implementation decisions
• Technical aptitude with multi-tier and cross-platform architectures across the enterprise
• Understanding of the information technology landscape, including infrastructure, network, client, server, enterprise applications, and emerging technology standards and trends
• Experience applying Waterfall and Agile methodologies within the software development life cycle
• Knowledge of Automotive Parts Systems, Warehousing, and Supply Chain is a plus
• A stable work history with large enterprise organizations

The hiring range for this position is $59.00 to $66.00 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay rate actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
