Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Veterinary Medicine.
- Knowledge of animal handling and nursing.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Qualified candidates are excellent communicators and multi-taskers, who are able to work independently, and function as a part of a team. They should be detail oriented and able to provide exceptional patient care combined with professional client communication.
- Must be able to lift 40lbs.
- Basic knowledge of emergency medicine is preferred but not required.
- CVT preferred but not required.
Duties:
- Professionalism: navigate interpersonal, digital, and oral correspondence with pet owners and referring veterinarians.
- Possess the ability to coach and mentor lesser experienced colleagues
- Administer medications, perform treatments per DVM instruction and accurately document necessary medical information.
- Respond quickly and calmly to crises while maintaining a high standard of client and patient care.
- Communication: Effectively and clearly communicate with DVMs, the needs of patients and owners in high stress situations.
- Additional skills include: small animal restraint and handling; basic and advanced nursing care; mastered venipuncture and IV catheterization; ability to calculate and administer medications; lab sample handling and running in-house lab equipment; basic sedation and anesthesia monitoring; general knowledge of veterinary medicine, including basic knowledge of emergency medicine and procedures.
- This position participates in weekend and holiday rotations.
- Overnight and weekend differential applies for some shifts.
