$15.25 - $17.84

$15.25 - $17.65/hr

Assists in the construction, repair and maintenance of County rights-of-way, roads, bridges, drainage systems, facilities and equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Gathers tools and supplies, as directed, to be used at work site.

• Assists in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as culverts, fence posts, bridging timbers, sandbags, etc.

• Assists in the cutting and clearing of grass, weeds, brush and trees on County Rights-of-way.

• Directs traffic in work zones for work crews and equipment.

• Maintains assigned tools and equipment and keeps assigned supplies and parts in order.

• Responsible for the serviceability, cleanliness and appropriate use of any personal protective equipment required to carry out normal assigned tasks.

• Attendance as scheduled at place of duty.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record.

• A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

• Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification desirable.

• Any combination of education and experience may be substituted, so long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

The position must regularly move up to 25 pounds in all directions, frequently move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.  Must be able to move objects up to 100 pounds, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.

Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.

Regularly works around moving parts and near moving traffic.

Regularly works in an outdoor environment which may expose the worker to inclement weather, excessive heat and humidity, pollution, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles. 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
