Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician
Location: Saint Charles, MO
Department: Adolescent

Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician I provides direct care, supervision, and support to adolescents participating in a residential behavioral health and recovery program. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment during overnight hours while helping youth remain engaged in treatment and personal development.
The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, observant, and passionate about supporting adolescents on their path toward recovery, emotional wellness, and personal growth.
Experience working with youth, adolescents, or at-risk populations is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Adolescent Client Supervision
Monitor adolescent clients throughout overnight hours to ensure safety, security, and compliance with program expectations.
Conduct regular safety checks and respond appropriately to client needs, concerns, behavioral issues, or crises.
Foster a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes positive behaviors and healthy development.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while building rapport and providing encouragement to youth.
Treatment Team Participation
Participate as an integral member of the treatment team by observing and documenting client behaviors, strengths, needs, and progress.
Communicate significant overnight observations, incidents, and concerns to supervisors and treatment team members to support continuity of care.
Assist in implementing treatment plans and behavioral interventions as directed.
Attend meetings and trainings as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Program Compliance and Safety
Ensure adherence to all program rules, policies, and procedures during overnight shifts.
Support therapeutic interventions and behavior-management strategies established by the treatment team.
Report incidents, safety concerns, behavioral concerns, or policy violations promptly and accurately.
Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques when appropriate.
Medication Policies
Follow all medication policies and procedures.
Collaborate with nursing staff and other authorized personnel to ensure compliance with medication administration and documentation requirements.
Observe and report medication-related concerns according to agency protocols.
Admissions and Orientation Support
Assisting new clients with orientation to program expectations, schedules, and facility guidelines.
Client Support and Skill Development
Assist clients with daily living activities and routines as needed.
Provide developmentally appropriate guidance, support, and coaching to adolescents.
Reinforce treatment goals, coping skills, and recovery-oriented behaviors.
Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth in treatment.
Documentation
Complete all required documentation accurately, thoroughly, and within established timeframes.
Document client behaviors, incidents, observations, and interventions in accordance with agency standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain confidentiality of client information in compliance with applicable laws and agency policies.
Transportation Assistance
Provide transportation for clients when required.
Ensure safe transportation practices and appropriate supervision during transports.
Maintain all required driving credentials and comply with agency vehicle policies.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of two (2) years of responsible employment.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to work effectively with adolescents in a residential treatment setting.
Experience working with adolescents or youth populations.
Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, behavior management, and de-escalation techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to engage and support adolescents from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to remain calm and professional during crisis situations.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently while remaining an active member of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer and documentation skills.
