Position Description:

The University of Louisville School of Music seeks a candidate with expertise in musicology and/or ethnomusicology to serve as Lecturer in Musicology to begin by August 17, 2026. This is a 5-month part-time faculty position that will hold the rank of part-time lecturer.

Primary Responsibilities:

Co-teach Applying Musicologies, the second semester of the three-semester core musicologies curriculum for undergraduate music majors. The course synthesizes perspectives and methodologies drawn from musicology and ethnomusicology. Teaching modalities may be a hybrid combination of in-person and online.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Music is required; Ph.D. or ABD in musicology/ethnomusicology preferred
  • Experience as an instructor at the college level preferred
