What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Business Continuity Management is responsible for the design and execution of the Business Continuity Management Programs within Capital Markets, Canada.  Ensures all Business Lines meet the maximum level of preparedness, conforming to policy, regulatory compliance imperatives and industry standards for Incident Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Planning. Acts as a senior professional advisor to Sr Directors and Executives during any critical event or crisis. Leads a team of BCM professionals ensuring a high standard of support is provided to all business teams.  Provides platform support and co-ordination with disruptive events & Incident Management capability.

What will you do?

  • Acts as a senior advisor to Sr Directors and Executives.

  • Leads a team responsible for the creation of the high-level strategies and tactical plans providing support throughout Capital Markets, Canada.

  • Co-ordinates Incident Management capability, Command Centre(s) and operates an emergency communications network throughout both segments.

  •  In tandem with the Senior Manager, Business Continuity Risk, and the lines of business, ensures operational risk relating to Business Continuity is identified and mitigated.

  • Builds relationships and encourages collaboration across the greater ORM community in both segments, and with the business risk management teams.

  • Oversees the adequacy of the analysis of alternative strategies and resource dependencies as a pre-requisite to the development of continuity plans and the allocation of resources for the purposes of BCM.

  • Provides support to the team where necessary ensuring all artefacts are timely scheduled, completed and approved by required dates.

  • Performs BIA's and BCPs to support complex teams or volumes as required

  • Provides professional advice and guidance supporting the BCM Advisors with the identification of critical processes and associated dependencies, as well as to facilitate creation of the high-level recovery strategies and tactical plans.

  • Leads standardized and consistent strategic and tactical activities of the BCM Advisors (s) including:

    • Business Impact Analysis (analysis of the time-dependent consequences of an outage of essential business processes).

    • BCP Plan Development, Documentation, and Implementation.

    • Test to validate plans and Perform gap closure on all assigned business functions/units.

    • Escalate artifact creation or renewal delays, as required.

  • Contribute to and participate in BCRM related committees, working groups, or forums, as required.

  • Leads and coordinates training through exercise types that validate plans and assumptions by exercising the interactions of people, processes, and technology risks and vulnerabilities in a consequence-free environment.

  • In tandem with the Senior Manager, Business Continuity Risk, review and identify any instances of undue risk-taking by business and functional executives in the identification of risks, the definition of risk tolerances, the selection of continuity tasks and strategies or the testing of continuity plans.

  • Develops working relationship/liaison with other Incident Management Teams, as required.  Assist coordinating Emergency Communications within the Business Line(s) of responsibility.

  • Responsible to ensure Post Incident Reviews, if IMT if activated, are executed as required.

  • Provide leadership, motivation, and developmental opportunities to BCM Advisors and measures their performance and progress to personal and / or team goals.

  • Adhere to OSFI E-21: Operational Risk and Resilience Guideline requirements.

  • Build relationships and encourage collaboration across the greater ORM community in both segments, and with the business risk management teams.

  • Support a strong culture of risk and integrity through effective challenge and deep partnerships to promote transparency of risks and matters requiring escalation.

  • Willingness to learn and foster an environment of continuous growth.

  • Consistently demonstrate behaviors that foster a sound and sustainable risk culture and environment across the organization including strong awareness of BCM practices.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5-7 years of experience in financial services, with at least 2 years dedicated to supporting operational risk management activities.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, planning and organizing skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication capability and presentation

  • Demonstrated ability to lead structured and outcomes-oriented meetings

  • High degree of flexibility and resourcefulness

  • Strong ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders to drive outcomes

  • Preferred: Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to operational resilience (e.g., OSFI, DORA)

  • Preferred: Familiarity with Wholesale and Capital Markets-related businesses (e.g., Markets, Corporate & Investment Banking, Cash Management).

Compensation for this position (including salary and discretionary/variable payments) will be determined by factors, including but not limited to candidate's experience, skills, registration status, performance, individual goals, market conditions, and business needs.

Pay Range

The expected pay range for this position is:

$110,000.00 - $140,000.00
