R&D Mechanical Development Engineer

Description -

What a R&D Mechanical Development Engineer does at HP:

  • Deliver product and scanner design & assemblies to production on time, cost and to specification (functionality, reliability, safety & performance) helping the business accomplish its goals.
  • Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, developing fan curves, system power measurements & acoustics.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of mechanical concepts and principles.
  • Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Generates process efficiencies and products that meet necessary business requirements through quality documentation and project management.
  • Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical knowledge and judgment.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Bachelor/master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Typically, 0-2 years’ experience.
  • Using Creo Parametric or other 3D CAD software as a mechanical design tool.
  • Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Designing sheet metal and plastic parts and associated production tooling and processes.
  • Using CFD and thermal mockups to validate thermal solution.
  • Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
