POSITION SUMMARY
As the Assortment Planner, Assortment Planner (Multi Wholesale), you will play a key role in supporting the execution of New Balance Korea’s product and commercial strategy through assortment planning, business performance analysis, and market demand consolidation.
This role is responsible for supporting assortment and demand planning for Multi Wholesale channels, with a primary focus on Shoe Multi partners. By identifying key product opportunities and translating Korea business objectives into actionable volume and channel plans, you will help ensure ROM channels contribute effectively to overall market growth and financial targets.
In addition, this role consolidates demand perspectives across DTC, E-commerce, Mono, Wholesale channels to establish a holistic Korea market demand view. Working closely with Merchandising, Commercial, Planning and APAC teams, you will support the alignment of product strategies, market opportunities and demand expectations, while serving as a key point of coordination for Korea demand planning communications with regional stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assortment Strategy & Planning
- Support the development and execution of seasonal assortment strategies for Rest of Market (ROM) channels, ensuring alignment with Korea business priorities and channel objectives.
- Partner with Merchandising and Commercial teams to identify key product opportunities, strategic franchises and seasonal initiatives that can drive ROM channel performance.
- Provide recommendations on key product focus areas and volume opportunities across major ROM accounts, particularly Shoe Multi partners.
- Support seasonal planning discussions by evaluating historical performance, market trends and consumer demand to help define product priorities within ROM channels.
- Contributing to the planning and execution of key product launches and strategic initiatives across ROM channels.
- Help ensure Korea’s key product strategies are effectively reflected within ROM channel plans and support overall business objectives.
Assortment performance management
- Conduct post-season reviews of ROM channel assortment performance against business objectives and planning assumptions.
- Analyze category, franchise, style-color and key account performance to identify key business drivers and future growth opportunities.
- Evaluate the performance of key products, strategic franchises and seasonal initiatives across ROM channels.
- Assess how ROM assortment and demand plans contributed to overall Korea business performance and commercial objectives.
- Identify key learnings through seasonal hindsight analysis and translate findings into recommendations for future planning cycles.
- Partner with Merchandising and Commercial teams to review seasonal outcomes, identify key learnings and opportunities, and provide recommendations to support future assortment, demand and channel planning decisions.
Korea Market Demand Consolidation
- Consolidate demand inputs across DTC, E-commerce, Mono WS and ROM channels to establish a comprehensive Korea market demand view.
- Review channel demand plans against overall Korea business objectives and identify opportunities or gaps versus target demand.
- Support alignment of channel demand plans to ensure contribution toward overall Korea business targets.
- Maintain visibility of total Korea demand requirements and provide planning insights to support business decision-making.
- Support seasonal demand planning processes by incorporating channel assumptions, business priorities and market opportunities into a consolidated Korea demand outlook.
APAC & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Merchandising, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance and Channel teams to support successful execution of seasonal plans.
- Act as the primary contact for consolidating and communicating Korea demand inputs across all channels to APAC Planning teams.
- Prepare and communicate consolidated Korea demand updates, planning inputs and seasonal assumptions to APAC stakeholders.
- Maintain planning documents, reporting and demand submissions in accordance with regional planning timelines and milestones.
- Proactively communicate significant changes in Korea demand outlook, opportunities and risks to relevant stakeholders.
- Support cross-functional discussions to ensure demand plans are aligned with business priorities, product strategies and seasonal objectives.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS
- 4-6 years of experience in Merchandise Planning, Assortment Planning, Buying, Demand Planning or related retail planning functions.
- Relevant experience within sporting goods, footwear, fashion or retail industries preferred.
- Understanding of assortment planning, inventory management and market demand planning processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales, inventory and product performance data.
- Proven ability to translate business objectives into actionable assortment and volume plans.
- Experience working in a multi-channel retail environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Written and verbal communication skills in both Korean and English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, along with Tableau or other reporting and planning tools.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
