What You'll Do
CrossBoundary Energy (CBE) is recruiting Solar PV Plant Field Support Specialist team members to provide hands-on field support for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a hybrid solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) plant. Working closely with Technicians, Senior Technicians, Network Engineers, the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) service provider, and other specialist personnel, you will help ensure that daily plant operations, inspections, maintenance activities, and field coordination are executed safely and effectively.
This role is responsible for supporting routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance activities, reporting faults and safety observations, coordinating field activities, maintaining site records, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
This is a site-based role in Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support daily Operations & Maintenance activities, including inspections, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting activities across the plant.
- Conduct routine field inspections of PV modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear, battery energy storage systems (BESS), cabling, fencing, drainage systems, access roads, and auxiliary equipment.
- Identify and report abnormal operating conditions, equipment defects, alarms, safety hazards, and damaged assets.
- Assist with equipment isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work coordination, and site access control in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support module cleaning, vegetation management, housekeeping, and other site maintenance activities to maximize plant performance and maintain safe working conditions.
- Coordinate field activities with contractors, suppliers, security personnel, and internal stakeholders to minimize operational downtime.
- Collect field data to support plant performance monitoring and operational reporting.
- Assist with spare parts inventory, tools management, consumables tracking, and maintenance documentation.
- Participate in incident reporting, root cause investigations, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and emergency response drills.
- Ensure all field activities comply with company HSE standards, site procedures, contractual obligations, and applicable electrical safety requirements.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental requirements before, during, and after field activities.
- Immediately stop unsafe work and escalate hazardous conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for all assigned tasks.
- Support permit-to-work systems, job hazard analyses (JHA), lockout/tagout (LOTO), working-at-height procedures, lifting operations, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across equipment areas, access roads, laydown areas, and control rooms.
Qualifications
Required
- Diploma, certificate, or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanics, Renewable Energy, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience working in solar PV, hybrid power plants, battery energy storage systems, electrical distribution, industrial maintenance, or field operations is preferred.
- Basic understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, DC and AC electrical systems, battery energy storage systems, SCADA, and plant monitoring systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment labels, work instructions, and maintenance checklists.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Basic computer literacy for completing inspection reports, maintenance records, checklists, and digital reporting tools.
- Proficiency in English is required; working proficiency in French is strongly preferred given the site location in Kolwezi, DRC.

Working Conditions
This is a field-based position operating within a utility-scale hybrid solar PV and battery energy storage facility. The role requires working outdoors in hot, dusty, wet, and remote site conditions. Team members may be required to support planned outages, urgent fault response activities, and after-hours emergency callouts as directed by site management.
