Impact You’ll Make
As an Associate in Stout’s healthcare-focused practice, you will support the delivery of compensation valuation analyses and advisory services for healthcare organizations nationwide. You will work closely with senior professionals, clients, and project teams to evaluate physician and advanced practice provider compensation arrangements and other healthcare transactions.
Assignments include fair market value analyses for hospitals and health systems, physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, radiation oncology centers, healthcare law firms and their clients, and pharmaceutical and medical device companies.
This role primarily focuses on the valuation and documentation of physician and provider compensation arrangements. It is not a business valuation position. Candidates should be located in Denver or Dallas or willing to relocate to these locations.
What You’ll Do
Execute valuation engagements involving healthcare compensation arrangements, including on-call coverage, medical directorships, employment agreements, and other provider arrangements.
Apply accepted valuation methodologies, including cost, market, and income approaches, based on the facts and circumstances of each engagement.
Collect, organize, and analyze financial, operational, compensation, and market data to support valuation conclusions.
Build and review financial models, market analyses, and supporting schedules using Excel and other valuation tools.
Prepare clear, well-supported written reports and engagement documentation that meet Stout’s quality standards.
Communicate with clients and project teams to gather information, clarify assumptions, and address open items throughout the engagement.
Identify valuation, transactional, and regulatory considerations, including issues related to the Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute.
Manage assigned workstreams across multiple concurrent engagements, including timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
Support and review the work of analysts and interns, providing guidance and constructive feedback as appropriate.
Collaborate with colleagues across offices and service lines to help deliver coordinated solutions for clients.
Contribute to proposals, research, publications, presentations, webinars, and other practice development initiatives.
Leverage AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to enhance research, streamline deliverable preparation, and improve overall efficiency and insight.
What You Bring
Two to four years of relevant experience in compensation valuation, healthcare consulting, transaction advisory, or a related field, with experience in provider compensation preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, healthcare administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant professional certification is a plus.
Experience supporting projects and client relationships in a professional services environment.
Strong financial modeling and Excel skills, with the ability to analyze large and complex data sets.
Working knowledge of healthcare operations, provider compensation practices, market dynamics, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
Familiarity with or interest in using AI tools and technology to enhance productivity, research, and analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to detail and documentation.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to colleagues and clients.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
A proactive approach, sound judgment, and the ability to work with increasing independence and accountability.
How You’ll Thrive
Take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
Build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues through responsive, thoughtful communication.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support the development of junior professionals.
Use sound judgment and intellectual curiosity to work through complex valuation questions.
Communicate proactively to keep stakeholders aligned and projects moving.
Apply strong analytical skills to produce practical, well-supported conclusions.
Embody Stout’s core values: Positive and Team-Oriented, Accountable, Committed, Entrepreneurial, Relationship-Focused, Super-Responsive, and Great Communicators.
