Position Overview

This is a fully onsite position and may be based in our San Jose, Santa Cruz, or San Luis Obispo office. Regular in-office presence is required to support collaboration with key stakeholders and business partners.


West Coast Community Bank is the wholly owned subsidiary of West Coast Community Bancorp, a publicly traded bank holding company. The SEC Financial Reporting Lead is responsible for supporting the Company's external reporting process, including the preparation and filing of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy Statements, Section 16 filings, and other regulatory filings. This position leads equity accounting processes, including stock-based compensation accounting, earnings per share calculations, equity reconciliations, and related disclosures, while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley controls. The role works closely with internal stakeholders, external auditors, legal counsel, and other business partners to support financial reporting, regulatory compliance, process improvements, technical accounting matters, and special projects.


Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with external reporting process on drafting and filing high quality, complete, and accurate financial statements and the related disclosures in SEC filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K) in compliance with U.S. GAAP and associated regulatory requirements including XBRL tagging.
  • Perform end-to-end financial statement filing process and timeline, including preparing thorough documentation of financial statement disclosures, assisting with GAAP and SEC reporting disclosure checklists, helping to address comments from the external auditors and legal counsel, senior management, disclosure committee, and audit committee.
  • Lead the company’s equity accounting and reconciliation processes, including preparation of month-end and quarter-end stock-based compensation entries in accordance with ASC 718
  • Own the company’s EPS calculation, including diluted share calculations, accounting for stock repurchases, and accounting for share-based compensation.
  • Provide support for non-financial SEC filings, including Section 16 and other regulatory filings.
  • Own Proxy Statement disclosures concerning financial and compensation-related areas in partnership with corporate counsel.
  • Coordinate with Director of FP&A and Director of Financial Reporting for the preparation and review of our earnings release documents and investor materials. Assist senior leaders in responding to investor analyst inquiries on financial matters.
  • Own Sarbanes-Oxley controls and procedures associated with financial statement disclosures and equity accounting.
  • Support month-end accounting close processes through review of journal entries and GL account reconciliations for various areas including equity accounts.
  • Prepare non-GAAP financial measures and the related reconciliations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with external auditors to ensure filing deadlines are met.
  • Implement projects and reinforce a strong process improvement culture. 
  • Drive financial reporting and equity accounting improvements and play a key role in various ad-hoc projects.
  • Monitoring and communicating relevant information regarding new and emerging accounting standards; and provide assistance in implementing new standards as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with and support the Director of Financial Reporting in working with external stakeholders such as corporate counsel on public filings, investor relationship and corporate governance matters and auditors on technical accounting topics, new accounting pronouncements, and their respective impact and application.
  • Assist with provision for income taxes. 
  • Perform special projects as directed, including participation in the GL integration of Workiva.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed to support the Bank’s strategic priorities and evolving business needs, consistent with the scope and level of the role. 

Requirements & Education

  • BA/BS in Finance/Accounting required, with active CPA license preferred.
  • 5 + years of relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding and application of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Technical accounting expertise in share-based compensation.
  • Experience working with Workiva, Certent, and Transfer Agents are pluses.
  • Experience with income tax provision and related footnote disclosure preparation preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in utilizing AI-enabled tools in the financial reporting process preferred.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and proficiency in financial software and tools, particularly Microsoft Excel, Workiva, GAAP research tools such as Intelligize, CCH Research etc.
