Job Title: Project Manager

About Role
The Project Manager will anchor 2-3 divisions and drive end-to-end implementation of the NIPUN Bharat Mission, with a focused emphasis on selected priority blocks to achieve measurable improvements in Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). The role will work closely with district and state-level officials, serving as a critical connecting link between policy and implementation. The position will focus on strengthening overall system health and improving critical indicators through data-driven decision-making, enabling change management via District Project Management Units (DPMUs), and ensuring effective translation of state priorities into classroom-level impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. District Execution & Review Systems (Outcome-led Governance)
- Institutionalise structured, data-driven review mechanisms across districts.
- Support districts in conducting high-quality reviews with clear agendas, data analysis, and action points.
- Enable district leadership to interpret data and drive timely course correction and action planning.
2. Field Engagement & Capacity Building
- Conduct regular field visits (12-15 days/month) across assigned districts to support implementation.
- Facilitate district workshops, Goshtis, and review meetings focused on data use and learning outcomes.
- Support districts and stakeholders in developing data-driven action plans with clear ownership, timelines, and structured problem-solving mechanisms.
- Enable identification and improvement of priority gaps across key performance indicators to strengthen overall system performance.
3. Implementation Tracking & System Strengthening
- Track compliance of key NIPUN priorities (teacher professional development, mentoring visits, material delivery, assessments, etc.)
- Maintain structured trackers, dashboards, and reporting systems for district performance monitoring.
- Identify implementation bottlenecks and support timely resolution through field engagement and coordination.
4. Outcome-Focused Block Interventions
- Identify priority blocks in each district through data analysis and field validation.
- Drive focused interventions to improve key academic and administrative KPIs.
- Track progress of priority blocks and support scale-up of effective practices across districts.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (Development Studies/Public Policy/ Economics/ social sciences or related fields).
- 2–5 years of experience in project management, consulting, fellowships, or large-scale system implementation (preferably district fellowships).
- Experience working with government systems and district/state officials.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including influencing without authority, negotiation, collaboration, and team empowerment.
- Ability to work in field-based roles with extensive travel and operate effectively in ambiguous environments.
- High comfort with data, dashboards, and translating insights into action.
- Strong written and verbal communication in Hindi and English.
Compensation
Remuneration will be competitive with Indian philanthropy pay scales and will depend upon the candidates' experience levels.
