Purpose of the role

To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources.
  • Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis.
  • Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
  • Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science.

Join Tesco Bank as a Data Science Manager, where you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of data scientists, creating an environment where colleagues can thrive and deliver outstanding business outcomes. You will play a key role in building capability across the Data Science function, ensuring teams have the skills, tools and support needed to deliver high-quality analytics and AI (Artificial Intelligence) solutions that drive value for our customers and colleagues. This is a people leadership role with responsibility for coaching, performance management, talent development and organisational effectiveness. You will work closely with technical leaders, product owners and business stakeholders to ensure that Data Science resources are aligned to strategic priorities while fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Capability Building – Experience developing data science capability through mentoring, skills development, succession planning and workforce planning.

  • Delivery Leadership – Experience supporting the successful delivery of data science and analytics projects through effective planning, prioritisation and resource management.
  • Organisational Effectiveness – Demonstrated ability to create high-performing teams, drive continuous improvement and foster an inclusive, collaborative culture.
