About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Principal Land Quality professional to support our current and future portfolio of contaminated land and decommissioning projects across the full breadth of our business. You will be able to demonstrate substantial experience in site investigation and detailed site assessment methodologies, data interpretation and risk assessment, together with the design and implementation of appropriate remediation solutions. As a principal member of the team, you will be responsible for Land Quality deliverables for each project, working closely with experienced professionals from other disciplines to deliver the best outcomes for our clients.
This is an exciting opportunity to draw on your existing experience to progress your career in a highly regulated and dynamic field.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate a substantial track record across the following key responsibilities, though we understand that not everyone will meet every requirement.
- Oversee and manage the production of desk study assessments and initial conceptual site models.
- Manage and provide technical input into the design and implementation of both on-shore and off-shore ground investigation.
- Manage and provide technical input into data analysis, risk assessment and interpretative reporting.
- Provide technical input into the identification and further assessment of land quality constraints, delivering both land- and controlled waters remedial optioneering assessments, working towards the identification of cost-effective remedial solutions.
- Oversee and manage programmes of contaminated land and controlled waters remediation, leading to the satisfactory close-out of projects with appropriate regulators.
- Work alongside senior consultants and project managers to deliver multidisciplinary projects in the most cost-effective manner.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Working with your peers, manage adherence to Amentum’s HSE requirements, both on-site and in office environments, ensuring you and your colleagues maintain safe working conditions.
- Professional Development: Seek opportunities to broaden your technical knowledge through project work, training, and mentoring, and actively engage in personal development.
Suitable candidates are likely to have the following qualifications and experience, though again we understand that not everyone will meet every single requirement.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Geoscience, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is advantageous but not essential.
- Ten to fifteen years’ experience in relevant consultant or contractor land quality/contaminated land roles.
- Has achieved recognition as Specialist in Land Contamination (SiLC).
- Technical Aptitude: Solid technical understanding of site investigation techniques, risk assessment principles, geoenvironmental interpretation and reporting, remediation technology, and relevant environmental legislation.
- Teamwork & Communication: Ability to work effectively in a team setting, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when engaging with professionals that may not have a background in land quality.
- Motivation & Growth Mindset: an enthusiasm to progress their established career in land quality and remediation, including willingness to travel to different project sites.
- Other: A valid UK driving licence (or ability to obtain one in the near future) is beneficial.
