Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to put your engineering skills to work on projects that make a difference in the community? The City is seeking a motivated and collaborative Associate Engineer to join our team and help plan, design, and deliver a variety of important public works projects.

- Ensure construction projects comply with regulations and technical standards.
- Conduct and verify calculations for project designs.
- Work with engineers, consultants, and contractors, manage progress, and handle approvals.
- Create technical reports, specifications, right-of-way maps, and contracts.
- Investigate field conditions and support construction inspections.
- Prepare requests for proposals and contracts for consulting services.
- Able to provide recommendations.
- Strong in interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Efficient in researching and addressing engineering challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Courteous and tactful in public interaction.
The Position:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be;
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and
- Three years of experience involving the design, construction, inspection and surveying of public works projects.
- Valid and appropriate California Drivers License and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position
- Possession of a State of California Engineer in Training Certificate
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate City needs
