About the Role 

We are expanding our Business Development team within the M&A group and seeking a player-coach hybrid leader. This role combines team management with hands-on origination, focusing on sourcing acquisition opportunities and building strategic relationships that drive long-term success. 

You will engage with decision-makers at software companies globally (CEOs, VPs of Corporate Development, founders, owners), as well as M&A advisors and private equity/venture capital professionals. 

Success in this role means: 

• Building and maintaining meaningful relationships 

• Securing signed LOIs 

• Driving team growth and achieving KPIs 

• Contributing to successful acquisitions for Perseus/Constellation 

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead and develop a team of M&A Business Development professionals 

• Build and manage an M&A pipeline using Salesforce CRM 

• Create market maps and foster strong relationships within assigned software industry verticals 

• Meet and exceed quarterly sourcing KPIs (e.g., meaningful contacts, LOIs) 

• Collaborate with M&A leadership to qualify opportunities efficiently 

• Ensure accurate lead allocation across portfolio verticals 

• Qualify top-of-funnel opportunities to maintain focus for Portfolio Managers 

 

What We’re Looking For 

• 7+ years in Business Development or Sales at a software company, or in a client-facing M&A/finance role 

• 2+ years of professional management experience 

• Proven success in outbound origination roles, ideally in M&A or investment sourcing 

• Strong interest in building long-term pipelines within software investing 

• Exceptional communication skills with executive presence 

• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive with a sense of urgency 

• Prior experience managing others is required 

• Successful backgrounds in entrepreneurship or other high-performance roles outside of traditional M&A sourcing will be considered

Salary Range (Ontario & BC Only):

The estimated base salary range for this role is CAD$101,250.00 - CAD$123,750.00 per year. We include salary ranges in job postings only where required by applicable pay transparency laws, based on the jurisdictions in which the role may be performed.
