A DAY IN THE LIFE:
Supervises the company's pump production including any of the following activities: production planning/coordination, shift scheduling, work-in- process tracking, material and labor variance controls, and manufacturing performance reporting. Participates in planning, reviewing, and implementing production procedures, documentation, and personnel requirements.Pump Production Supervisors are also responsible for:
- Supervises manufacturing personnel and processes to meet production requirements.
- Ensures that the designated area is in compliance with cGMP regulations, area documentation and standard operating procedures are accurate and up to date, and that a readiness for regulatory agency audits exists at all times.
- Evaluates pump area procedures and operations to ensure that efficient and effective methods are in place to promote the manufacturing of a quality product. Monitors and tracks production yields. Recommends changes where appropriate to correct production issues.
- Coordinates with Manufacturing Engineering on production issues to ensure immediate resolution.
- Promotes process improvements by developing and implementing programs to improve manufacturing output or quality.
- Tracks key performance measures.
- Ensures the effective use of material, equipment and personnel in producing quality products.
- Monitors daily operations and recommends changes to processes and procedures.
- Provides direction to employees and exercises judgment according to established policies, procedures, and management guidance.
- Supports the short term planning for the department including headcount, budgeting, training, and systems requirements.
- Participates in the selection, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of staff.
- Ensures department staff is properly trained, per designated training plan, before assuming job responsibilities.
- Develops and manages schedules and performance requirements of staff.
- Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
WHEN & WHERE YOU’LL WORK:
Onsite: This position is fully onsite and open to candidates located in San Diego, California. Equipment for the role will be provided and training will occur onsite.
Schedule: This position will work Monday - Thursday from 4:00 AM - 2:30 PM PST.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite required.
- Strong knowledge and application of principles outlined in Quality System Regulations (QSRs/GMPs).
- Proficient in the use of common assembly tooling.
- Able to effectively exchange or present factual information in both written and verbal communications.
- Skilled at effectively communicating department or area issues and results within and across functional areas and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or timelines. Able to gain the cooperation of others.
- Skilled at effectively leading a cooperative team effort and organizing resources to achieve team goals. Able to make and prioritize process and resource decisions based on overall team needs.
Minimum certification/education level:
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
Minimum experience:
- 5 years' experience in Instrumentation, Biomedical Industries, or Consumer Electronics.
- Medical Device or Diagnostics manufacturing environment preferred.
- 2 years' experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Experience with production and inventory control software (e.g. ERP).
- Proven experience in effectively leading an assembly team is required.
- Experienced with supervising assembly work:
- Working under magnification
- On components using plastic components, adhesives, and fixtures
- Operating manual, semi-auto and automated assembly equipment
- Lean Manufacturing experience desirable.
- Prior experience leading/supervising a related department and associated staff is preferred.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The base pay for this position is $73,000 - $83,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes incentive compensation, equity, and a robust benefits package.
