Position Type: On-Call, Part-Time / Night Shift / Weekend Focus 

Position Summary

Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes is looking for a dedicated Weekend Transfer Lead to join our transfer team. This role is ideal for candidates with prior first responder, ambulance, or patient-transport driving experience. The associate will handle incoming calls, drive a company vehicle, and interact directly with families, healthcare, and hospice providers to transfer deceased individuals into our care with the utmost respect and professionalism. 

Key Responsibilities

• Receive incoming calls during on-call shifts, responding appropriately by driving to transfer the deceased or routing calls to a Funeral Director. 
• Interact professionally and compassionately over the phone and in person with grieving families and medical staff. 
• Adhere to strict safety standards, protocols, and professional appearance/attire guidelines. 
• Complete minimal administrative tasks as required during the orientation and shift periods. 

Requirements

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience as a first responder, or background in ambulance/patient transport driving, is highly preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
• Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record required. 
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry over 100 lbs., push/pull up to 300 lbs., and utilize transfer equipment (with or without reasonable accommodation). 
• Environment Note: Position involves occasional exposure to biological and chemical hazards; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided.
