Job Summary:
Advises the company on a broad range of legal matters, including regulatory, litigation, contracts, labor, compliance, and corporate affairs.Job Description:
- Represents the company before the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau (PREB), the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation and Public Works, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Administration (PR OSHA), and other regulatory agencies, as well as state courts including the Superior Court, Appellate Court, and Supreme Court—and federal courts such as the Puerto Rico Bankruptcy Court and the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, to ensure compliance, protect corporate interests, and achieve favorable outcomes in energy transmission and distribution matters.
- Advises executives and guide internal departments on regulatory compliance, legal risks, and liabilities to ensure informed decision-making and mitigate business impacts.
- Drafts and manages legal documents including briefs, motions, pleadings, legal holds, demand letters, and contracts to ensure enforceable agreements and protect company interests.
- Conducts and evaluates legal research on litigation claims and lead internal investigations—including strategy development, witness interviews, and document review—to recommend actions that mitigate risk and support informed decisions.
- Interprets, applies, and reinforces company policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring robust compliance with all applicable laws, industry regulations, and internal governance requirements.
- Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.
- Performs additional responsibilities aligned with senior‑level expertise and organizational needs, contributing to strategic projects, team development, and enhanced operational flexibility.
Additional Job Description:
Education
- Juris Doctor and being admitted to the practice of Law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Experience
- 5 years' experience with legal role responsibilities, including litigation, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
- Experience working with documents, policies, SOP creation and implementation.
- Experience leading or collaborating with small projects.
- Experience as matter-expert and asset resource to provide support to internal/external clients.
