POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing technical oversight for a local team of in a designated Quality Control lab and ensures that the team meets all the LATICRETE quality criteria. This individual works with the designated Sr. QC Manager and/or Regional Supervisor to oversee the implementation of process improvement initiatives that result in improved processes for Production and implements and supports programs to ensure the Manufacturing Quality Control Team executes efficient, reliable and repeatable Quality Assurance/Control processes and activities. The Quality Control Lead ensures all products manufactured meet or exceed quality standards as well as all safety, environmental and ISO requirements. The Quality Control Lead will provide technical guidance to the local QC team designated by the Sr. QC Manager and/or Regional Supervisor. The QC Lead will ensure that lab’s QC team are accomplishing continuous improvement initiatives in the manufacturing and QC environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
1. QC Lab and Process Management (60%):
- Ensure that (G)ood (L)aboratory (P)ractices are being followed across plants along with 5S methods for laboratory organization and ensures that QC personnel across plants are trained.
- Lead QC team develop and perform process improvement at local QC lab to meet standard capacity for testing and safety requirements.
- Be the technical leader with the work process to update and improves QC Lab work instructions, procedures, and calibration of QC instrumentation referenced in the LATICRETE Quality Control Manual.
- Perform QC tests at the local QC lab.
- Lead communications between local QC and operations to determine priorities and specific needs to preserve Quality of the product at all the time including the control of non-conforming product.
2. Data Analysis/Technical Management (35%):
- Work with the Sr. QC Manager or Regional QC Supervisor to ensure that manufacturing and raw material specifications exist and are current and enforced.
- Perform internal QC lab audits to ensure all QC data is accurate and reliable.
- Work with Sr. QC Manager/Regional QC Manager, Process Chemist, and Process Engineering team to troubleshoot problems associated with finished product production in assigned facilities.
- Ensure the local QC team is maintaining a reliable QC database.
- Report on Quality Metrics Performance for the local manufacturing plant and any potential causes that impact the Quality of the product based on the data provided by the local QC team.
3. Department and People Management (5%):
- Perform duties of a working QC Lead at homebased QC lab.
- Develop a rapport with multiple Plant Leadership Teams, QA Team, and R&D personnel.
- Lead the technical portion of training department employees in QC procedures.
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment, recognizing and rewarding performance that drives desired results.
- Provide technical leadership to QC team in local lab.
- Be prepared to travel to other labs as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
- 7+ years experience working in a lab environment required.
- Bachelor’s degree (Chemistry or Technical focus desired) or equivalent relevant QC and/or laboratory certifications and experience is a plus.
Specialized Skills and Experience:
- Strong technical knowledge of chemistry in the following area(s): cementitious chemistry, epoxy liquids, latex, and/or any LATICRETE product lines highly preferred.
- Previous experience with color matching and knowledge or experience utilizing a colorimeter highly desired.
- Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans and prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans.
- Ability to do simple math calculations, input data into a computer and analyze data is required.
- Advanced computer/technical skills including demonstrated experience using Access, ACT, Excel, Word and Strong ERP software knowledge.
- Able to participate in Quality Control and Environmental Safety Organizations.
- Able to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Excellent record keeping, documentation and organizational skills.
- Able to management multiple assignments and projects simultaneously with shifting priorities, deadlines and focus.
- Must be adaptable and flexible.
Travel Requirement:
- May be required to travel up 15%. This role will cover designated QC labs.
Physical Requirements:
- Must pass pre-employment physical.
- Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively. Occasional lifting of 60+ pounds required.
- Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds repetitively. Occasional push/pull of 60+ pounds required.
- Stand: Must be able to stand 50-75% of the day.
- Sitting: Must be able to sit 25-50% of the day.
- Twisting/Bending: Must be able to twist/bend 50-75% of the day.
- Squatting, Climbing and/or Crawling: Must be able to squat/climb/crawl 20% of the day.
