The Role
The Associate Director, Business Operations, Quality Control will lead business operations, governance, and portfolio management functions for the Global Quality Control organization. This role is responsible for establishing the operating framework that enables disciplined execution, strategic alignment, and measurable business outcomes across Moderna's QC transformation portfolio. Serving as a strategic partner to the Executive Director of Global Quality Control, this individual will oversee governance, business planning, portfolio management, executive communications, performance management, and value realization while partnering across QC, Supply Chain, Finance, CMC Digital, Quality, and Laboratory Leadership to ensure strategic initiatives are aligned, prioritized, and successfully executed.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Lead business operations for the Global Quality Control organization by establishing and owning governance, operating cadences, and business planning processes that enable disciplined execution.
- Develop and maintain executive dashboards, operational KPIs, and performance reporting to provide visibility into portfolio health, organizational performance, risks, and business opportunities. Communicate strategic updates as needed to Executive leadership.
- Establish governance frameworks and portfolio management processes that prioritize initiatives, monitor progress, and ensure alignment with strategic business objectives.
- Partner with Finance and functional leaders to develop business cases, investment recommendations, financial analyses, and value realization plans for strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate cross-functional planning and execution across QC, Supply Chain, Engineering, CMC Digital, Quality, Facilities, and Site Leadership to deliver key initiatives for Global QC. Partner with peer leaders to translate best practices between Global QC, INT QC and Operational functions to enable improvement.
- Prepare executive communications, business reviews, presentations, and strategic updates for Executive leadership and governance forums.
- Monitor portfolio performance, risks, dependencies, and organizational priorities while providing recommendations that improve execution and accelerate business outcomes.
- Lead organizational planning activities, including annual objectives, strategic priorities, resource planning, workshops and operational reviews. Own and drive a comprehensive roadmap for Global QC, including compliance, cost and digital improvements. Identify and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities and translate into TAT and ROI realization, and efficiency gains.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Life Science, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline required.
- 8+ years of experience in business operations, manufacturing operations, strategy, consulting, program management, or operational excellence within a manufacturing or life sciences environment required.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience establishing governance frameworks, portfolio management processes, executive operating cadences, and performance management systems.
- Strong business and financial acumen with experience developing business cases, investment analyses, executive reporting, and value realization frameworks.
- Experience developing executive presentations, communications, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution within a complex, matrixed organization.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing experience preferred.

The salary range for this role is $142,500.00 - $256,500.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
