Position Summary
We have an opportunity for a Supervisor, Production -3rd Shift to join our team. This role will manage daily activities and employees within the Packaging Group, ensuring all work meets regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position focuses on maintaining high quality and efficiency while continuously improving internal processes. The successful candidate will lead a team dedicated to operational excellence and compliance.
Shift: Sunday-Thursday 10:30pm-7am
Location: Kansas City, MO

The Role
- Drive process improvements within the packaging area.
- Oversee procedures and maintain accurate written documentation.
- Manage and develop direct reports to ensure performance and growth.
- Ensure quality, efficiency, and timeliness of all outputs.
- Present and defend policies and procedures to internal and external management and auditors.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of cGMPs and industry standards.
- Investigate and evaluate new industry trends for potential implementation.
- Apply strong reasoning and data-based decision-making skills.
- Lead investigations of deviations or non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Train the team on changes resulting from process improvements or corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and operational parameters.
- Complete additional assigned tasks as required.
The Candidate
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
- At least five years of relevant experience in Production Operation or scheduling roles.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing required.
- Ability to read, write, and speak clear English.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Intermediate computer skills, including e-mail, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer, Inventory systems, and Human/Machine Interface (HMI) equipment.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to organize daily work plans effectively.
- Track employee personal leave and sick time to ensure compliance with company limits.
- Handle interpersonal conflicts between employees.
- Train new staff on procedures and documentation.
- Manage people, projects, and materials for efficient and accurate processing.
- Ability to interact effectively with management staff.
- Respirator fit testing and pulmonary physical required.
- Handling of controlled substance product – background check with further DEA screening required.
- Work in a highly active containment area (Potent Drug Facility).
- Operate a manual pallet jack and potentially become licensed to operate the Pallet Stacker as needed.
- Availability for occasional overtime.
- Minimal travel requirements (10%).
- Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent‑sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
Preferred Skills & Background
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in the contract pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) experience preferred.
- Experience writing and updating standardized working procedures preferred.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred.
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed organization preferred.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement preferred.
